What A Coalition Of The Willing…

So I’m watching Russia Today and they reported some things that are just fascinating. ( I *think* all of these were from RT, but I was channel hopping a bit… it might have been Fox with the Anonymous story.)

1) Russia now has their long range bombers ‘in play’ in ISIS / ISIL territory. (Nice video of them too ;-)

2) Russia has a fleet off the coast in the Mediterranean Sea in support of their Syria campaign.

3) France has announced they are joining Russia with The Charles De Gaulle carrier fleet in the Med.

and, the one that got me the most;

4) “Anonymous” has announced we’re in and declared war on ISIS / ISIL. (Followed by a list of the thousands of jihadi Twitter accounts and hundreds of some other sites closed / hacked / whatever…)

All while the USA sucks its thumb.

Now my first thought was “this is big, this is really big”. Either France or Russia can obliterate these folks, both together will be very interesting to watch.

This was followed by “The Russian Hackers are pretty darned good. A bit pedantic in style, but effective. Anonymous is better. Less predictable and greater breadth.” But you would expect that from a group that has no fixed membership, is global in scope, and has folks from everywhere who can do everything. This was followed closely by “But WTF?! Here we have a coalition of what is arguably one of the most Strong Central Authority governments in the world, itself run by a ‘strong man’ type; one of, if not the, premier democracies with freedom in the world, and the lead anarchy ‘organization’ of the hacker universe.” What a crazy coalition of the willing…

On what planet could you sell that script to Hollywood? Nobody would believe it…

I worry about the NSA and CIA wanting to break into my equipment and bugger my shop. I fear pissing off Anonymous more…

The original has links in it and a nice video, so please ‘hit the link’ for more:

The hacking group Anonymous on Sunday declared “total war” against the Islamic State, the terror organization that claimed responsibility for the attacks on Friday that killed 132 Parisians.

Anonymous also posted a video, confirming the message was in response to the events in Paris.
According to the same Twitter account, the group began taking down websites associated with ISIS this morning.

Anonymous also retweeted a link to the following message from the hacktivist group Binary Sec:

“We as a collective will bring an end to your reign of terror. We will no longer turn a blind eye to your cruel and inhumane acts of terrorism towards all other religions that are not Islam. We’ve watched you behead innocent people, kidnap and murder children, and then launch terrorist attacks in France. This will NOT BE TOLERATED ANY LONGER. We here at BinarySec live for the sole purpose of bringing down All ISIS Propaganda ONE website and/or person at a time. ISIS… Your Jihad is coming to an abrupt end. We here at BinarySec will be one of the driving forces to your end and that’s a promise. ISIS… The War Is On.”

This is not the first time that Anonymous has taken on ISIS. Foreign Policy Magazine reports that the conflict between hackers that identify with Anonymous and ISIS has waged online for more than a year. A tipping point that forced many hackers to join the cause were the attacks on the Charlie Hebdo newspaper and kosher market in Paris earlier this year.

According to the FP report from last week, hackers have taken 149 Islamic State-linked websites offline and flagged roughly 101,000 Twitter accounts and 5,900 propaganda videos.

The remaining question is whether or not these hackers aiming to achieve social good are helping or harming state-driven attempts to take out the terror group. Technology companies have said in the past that government intelligence agencies ask them not to take down ISIS-related content because, when using the legal avenues at hand, they are able to more effectively track these groups.

Now who knows how much this is just blowing smoke and how much is real. Anonymous has no fixed membership and you can’t really give orders in an anarchy. It’s more of a statement of being unhappy with ISIS, but with a collective set of teeth chewing your ankles… It will not feel very good and can eventually bleed you to death.

The original has some nice videos and pictures. They are so cool in flight!

Long-range bombers to fly anti-ISIS missions from Russia, Putin orders Navy to work with France

Published time: 17 Nov, 2015 14:23
Edited time: 17 Nov, 2015 16:47

Russia has deployed its fleet of strategic bombers to double the volume of airstrikes on Islamist targets in Syria, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has announced. Vladimir Putin has ordered a cruiser to coordinate operations with French naval forces in the Mediterranean.

“We are conducting a mass airstrike campaign against Islamic State targets in Syria. We have now doubled the number of sorties, which is allowing us to conduct operations throughout the length and breadth of the country,” Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said during a Security Council meeting in Moscow chaired by the Russian president.

Shoigu said that Russia’s Tu-95, Tu-22 and Tu-160 strategic bombers have been brought into the operation, while the Air Force command added that the strike group has been bolstered with 37 new planes, including Su-34 bombers and Su-27 fighter jets.

The head of the General Staff reported that the new phase of the anti-ISIS campaign will involve 25 long-range bombers flying out of airfields in Russia.

“By conducting military missions in Syria, you are protecting Russia and her citizens,” Putin told his military chiefs. “Our air campaign in Syria must not only be continued, it must be boosted, in such a way that the criminals are made aware that retribution is inevitable.”

Looks like all their pilots will get some practice and all their equipment will have a good shakedown. After this is over, Russia will have a very well vetted set of equipment with competent experienced pilots, crews, and ground support. (Not that they don’t already, just that it is different when people are shooting back and when you don’t go home after the training run.)

The Russian president has issued orders for Russia’s Moskva cruiser, covering the Russian base in Latakia from the Mediterranean Sea, to work together with a French naval group led by flagship Charles De Gaulle, a 26 fighter-jet aircraft carrier, which is departing for Syria this week.

“The French naval group, led by the air carrier, will soon reach your area of operations. We need to establish direct contact with it, and treat it as an ally,” the Russian president said. “We need to develop of a joint action plan for both sea and air operations.”

The Kremlin said that the parameters for a joint mission had been agreed upon by Putin and French President Francois Hollande, following a personal phone call.

“The two leaders focused their attention on bilateral and multilateral cooperation in combating terrorism,” a Kremlin statement said. “This includes closer ties and joint operations between the military command and intelligence services of Russia and France in Syria.”

Vladimir Putin and Francois Hollande are to meet in Moscow on November 26.

There’s more to the story at that link.

They’ve done 2300 sorties, for example… Makes the US “effort” look like a tantrum by a 2 year old… Lots of noise but not much to worry about. Now with France about to be in a “hot war” flying over Syria, does that mean NATO is “in” too?…

But a combined French / Russian fleet and air campaign? With Anonymous mucking up your ‘command and control’ of remote cells? I suspect someone in ISIS / ISIL has had their “jump the shark” moment and is about to find out what it really means to ‘be a State’ when the world hates you.

Thanks for this post. We live in a web of deceit, intriguingly frightening.

I urge those interested in the AGW issue and the UN’s IPCC in Paris to:

    1. Read comments on “Convincing evidence for AGW?”

    2. Consider the implication of statements by Smithsonian’s distinguished Dr. Kenneth M. Towe that:

_ a.) “Solar storms are 100% predictable,” and

_ b.) Leaders of all nuclear nations* will be advised before a powerful solar eruption destroys electronic communications and the electrical power grid, plunging modern civilization into darkness without electrical power .

*China, England, France, India, Iran, Isreal, Japan, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, USA, etc. are in constant communications?

The Russian MoD confirmed that strategic bombers Tu-160, Tu-95MC and Tu-22 were used in recent strikes against #ISIS in #Syria

France announced yesterday that it was invoking clause 42.7 of the European Union treaty, which mandates member states have an “obligation of aid and assistance by all the means in their power” to help states which come under armed attack on their territory.

    source: http://yle.fi/uutiset/defence_committee_chair_finland_cant_help_france_militarily/8461111

France chose not to use a different treaty article which specifically mentions terror attacks, article 222, in favour of the one intended for states who come under armed attack by a foreign power. This is the first time the mutual assistance clause has been invoked by a member state.

Meanwhile Obama has effectively purged all military leadership which will not conform to political agenda. The folks in the trenches desperately want to go in and do something but higher command will not go against the administration agenda and even voice the desire because they know they will likely end up getting relieved of command like General James Mattis who recently was forced into retirement.

  3. wyoskeptic says:

Remember that old, old saying about a camel’s nose and the tent? Obama is the nose of that particular camel and it is not going to be tall hat long before the rest of the camel inhabits the tent.

The question is will that tent be worth staying in once that happens.

  4. Apparently isil make some 50 million dollars a Month from selling oil on the black market.

Now, I get bemused as to why the group are allowed to use twitter and Facebook apparently un impeded in order to spread their hatred but this oil business had me really really bemused..

We prsumably know where these oilfields are and can see the tankers taking the crude away and know where their refineries are

Without money nothing much can happen and their troops cant move so why hadn’t the bombing sorties targeted these isil assets?

  5. Paul, Somerset says:

Hard to believe Putin’s efforts in Syria will be any more thoughtful or effective than they have been in Ukraine.

The complete failure of his strategy to link Russia with Crimea has left him with an isolated peninsula to which he already had access by treaty. The difference now is that he’s reliant on the goodwill of the Ukrainian government to continue supplying it with water and electricity. At the same time he’s guaranteed his country’s perpetual isolation from the Ukrainians and other Europeans previously happy to trade with it.

And all because of hopelessly faulty intelligence. He seems genuinely to have believed that Ukrainians, most of whom are bilingual, would welcome his invasion if they could speak Russian, The reaction of the citizens of e.g. Odessa, who describe themselves as the only free Russian city in the world, and who want to keep it that way as Ukrainians, has left him and his forces isolated and reviled on all sides.

And this is the man who is supposed to deliver a military solution to the mess of Middle Eastern politics and religion?

He appears to make the mistake of actually believing his own propaganda. Perhaps he watches Russia Today

  6. Lynn Clark says:

    climatereason/tonyb asked:
“Without money nothing much can happen and their troops cant move so why hadn’t the bombing sorties targeted these isil assets?”

It’s been reported that the Obama administration has prohibited strikes on those assets because of concerns about harming the civilian operators of the oil refineries and the tanker trucks that transport the oil. It is Viet Nam — in which bombing targets were identified/chosen by White House staff — all over again. It’s amazing how consistent Democrats are at screwing serious things up.

We should be of good cheer over these events! “The hope of the christian world will come out of Russia.” The prophecy is that Christianity would be sorely persecuted at this time. The western nations, even the roman church would seem to have abandon them. This is the beginning of the end of this war as the Russians lead the beginning of the christian push back. Soon the head Oligarch will be assassinated by a Muslim group, they will cheer, but events will swing greatly against them. The smell of their children’s blood will cause their change in direction. Muslims will learn to walk in the path of Jesus!. “The 12th Imam walks with Jesus”
The Great Deceiver with the Golden Tongue will lose all popular support and will attempt, in his last days, to rule by decree. 7 years he will prevail on the world stage and then he will disappear from public view.

  13. p.g.sharrow says:

Russians have always coveted a respected position on the world stage. As they don’t have the power to force control maybe they will learn to Lead among equals. ISIS is actually a small operation of a few 10s of thousands of fighters. Not a big deal to a real Army. These Radical Muslims are proving to modern Muslims that their Religion needs an overhaul before it can join the 21st. Century. The greatest danger to most Muslims is their radical neighbors and the mullahs of death. Most of the death and destruction caused by the radicals has been inflicted on Muslims. The best kind of an Army to subdue them would be a Muslim Army…pg

  14. John Robertson says:

If this cooperation wipes out most of ISIS infrastructure, income and freedom of movement.
Then we really have to ask, WTF?
What was the Obama/Hillary game plan?
These savages have been thriving on Obama’s watch, yet now that they have annoyed the French and Russians they may be exterminated.
It boggles the mind that 30,000 or even 100,000 Militant Islamists can openly assault the free world and the USA is incapable of slapping them down.

Yet billions can be stolen from taxpayer to mitigate a non problem, Global Warming,AKA climate Change.
Time to start insisting that Terrorism causes Global Warming.
Ignoring for now the terror tactics of the Cult of Calamitous Climate.
If you rightly include piracy, as a subset of terrorism, there is a definite correlation between the rise of terrorism, preceding the “rise” of global average temperatures.
Far better match than that of the poor maligned plant food CO2.
And if you include the fear mongering by the UN IPCC as another subset of terrorism, then we have a definite (post normal science) causation.

Dress this nonsense up in Team IPCC ™ language and we have a winner,
    Terrorism causes Climate Change.
Climate Change can be defeated, by exterminating every form of terrorist.

Since few month I follow non ant-russian blogger and I learned much.
One is that USA is arming and funding many terrorist groups, and that unlike what is said those groups are very connected… all “moderate rebels” have moved to radical groups now.

Israel is supporting Al-qaeda aka alnosra, like France have been. Even Fabius said “why do US tag them terrorist, they do a good job there”…

few weeks ago while Russia started it’s campaign, doin in few weeks what US did not yet do since year, USA thrown weapons to rebels, and russia bombed them just after, and USA complained

the weapon US is giving to reels os TOW anti-tank missileS. France is more givin “Milan” anti tank missiles.

The start of Russian campaign is reported to have raised a “Sputnik moment” among expects while they launched more than 20 cruise missiles at the same time.
US carrier get away from the zone by fear.
Russia is reported having controlled the electronic space in that zone, able to jam awacs and even satellites.
I’m not se sure it is so effective because the Israeli could organized a bombing on damas Airport to defend their interests. Anyway I hope Russina are furious of Israeli bombing, and will engage the bombers next time. I don’t like terrorist supporters.

note that the full talk of Putin in from of UNO (the FULL, not the cherry picked) is a great article of geostrategy… surprising quality for a politician.

  18. philjourdan says:

In 1984, while there were hints of the outside world, the truth is the only information about the world outside was through the government. In other words, the reader had no way of knowing what the rest of the world was doing, only what the country (I guess the reader always assumes it is their country) was doing.

Take a look at today. What is Kerry doing? Blaming the victims of terrorism and looking like a fool. Obama? Leaving an empty chair (Clint Eastwood was right) in France.

And in the US? Persecuting Tea Party folks. And ignoring the turmoil of the rest of the world. Cracking down on free speech and forcing newspeak. IN other words, other than the fact we can still see what is going on in the rest of the world (where the US is sadly absent), it is 1984.

And that should scare the hell out of any rational person. Which eliminates 50% of the folks in this country right off the bat.

  19. E.M.Smith says:

Along those lines, I saw a news clip of Obama having a mini-rant (though I think we are supposed to call those “micro-agressions” now…) about the Republicans plan to pause the flood of Syrian Refugees attempt at entry into the USA. He said something like: ~”that Republican talk about stopping refugees. It is offensive and it needs to stop.” So freedom speech is “offensive and it needs to stop”, but smuggling in a few jihadis isn’t? Creating little anti-American Sharia Arabic speaking ghettos isn’t “offensive and it needs to stop”? He uses the widows and orphans dodge again by saying Republicans think a 3 year old child or an old widow is dangerous, but ignores his government policies that let them drag in various cousins, uncles, brothers, etc. later.

IMHO we’re way past the Camel’s Nose in the tent and are least up to the first hump…

There also seems to be some UN organization (and likely yet another “treaty”…) that portions out “refugees” by country (in normal years). I also saw a statistics chart for 2014 (attempting to justify letting in more Syrians was the goal of the presenter). It showed a tiny bar for Syria. Why tiny? Because there where MUCH larger bars for other countries in front of it. Unfortunately, they, too, were substantially Muslim countries. So we’re dragging in about a Million / year of people who’s language, culture, and religion do NOT prepare them to be comfortable, integrate, and succeed in America?

Frankly, had I the time, it sure looks to me like a ‘Dig Here!’ on yet another UN plan to “fundamentally change” America via demographics as destiny… With Obama in the lead…

I’m also getting pretty tired of being told my “Put America first and keep us safe” speech is “offensive and needs to stop” while their “Piss Christ” and chopping off heads and raping non-muslim women is just their culture and I need to be more accepting of it or I’m a bigot. I can’t draw a cartoon of Mohammed without being hunted down and killed, but they can blow up Paris and gun down innocents and I’m supposed to understand and accept that we deserve it for having “offended” them? Bull shit. Giant Cow Pie Sandwich. Mr. President, what is “offensive and needs to stop” is you.

I just wish I could find a clip of it. Maybe it’s too new to be on Youtube yet…

I’ve started to apply what I’m thinking of calling “Smith’s Razor”. A logic tool for use when no other data allows a choice.

“When an inexplicable result happens in politics or international affairs, absent data to the contrary, that result is by design. -E.M.Smith”

It isn’t 100% accurate, but it sure seems to point the right way more often than not…

So why was the oil left flowing? Because “This behaviour is by design”… Now you can ask “who would want that design, and why?” and start to get somewhere, instead of just being puzzled about it…

So why is Obama P.O’d about Republicans wanting to put America first? “This behaviour is by design” implies: He does not want to put America first, he wants to “fundamentally change” it with the creation of internal conflict and strife for his political benefit. Balkannize and control.

It is a remarkably effective tool…

    @Paul, Sommerset:

    Lord knows I’m no fan of Putin, but he does command a rather large Army, is willing to use it, knows how to do intrigue and deception, and actually cares about his country. Just like Obama, at least up that “knows how to use it” and “cares about his country” part… /sarc;

    @Lynn Clark:

Since that all hit the news, and became a political liability, Obama has now allowed the trucks to be hit. Some 100+ were bombed. HOWEVER: They dumped a load of leaflets on them so the “civilian” jihadis driving them could run away first… then they bombed the trucks…

Interesting…. I just wish I had the time to spend on getting “connected” into Anonymous. It is sometimes a bit disappointing that I can only watch from news reports. Oh Well. I’ll continue “my part” via making a secure scrub-able platform…

    @Bill S:

That’s generally a very effective strategy, and with Islam works “for a while”, but Their Book persists and teaches a whole new generation to hate those who are different, cut off the heads of those with different beliefs, infiltrate and overthrow from within, die for the cause, etc. etc.

That is why there has been 1300 years of war between Islam and Western Civilization. (Eastern too if you include India and into the edge of China).

Do not expect this to ever actually end.

Do you have a citation for that prophetic view? Is it Nostradamus or … ?

Yes, it would be ideal for Islam to have a ‘Reformation’ and the modest POV to rise to the top, but that is darned hard to do when part of the core of the fundamental text is that it MUST be followed and that interpretation is not allowed… Oh, and that is is just loaded with rules and regulations for dominance and intolerance of non-Muslims. (Convert, die, or pay a ‘special tax’ if you are lucky and have money in excess…)

Well, at least they are playing chess vs checkers… we’re still trying to find a chair to sit in and asking what the pretty colors mean…

Yeah… Another of my “logic tools”: What is in the empty space? ( I sometimes call it “negative space analysis”.)

WHY are there several Million Sunni Muslim Refugees headed to Europe (and the USA) instead of just next door into rich and stable Saudi Arabia? Now apply “This behaviour is by design”…

Some centuries back, the Muslim Arabs invaded into Syria and Iraq. It is the descendents of those folks who make up the Sunni Arabs of those countries. So just why are those Sunni Arabs not going back to their ancestral lands?… maybe because the goal is to spread wider and expand Islam, not to retreat? Why is Saudi building $Million Mosques all over the world, even where there are few Muslims? “This behaviour is by design”… (Yes, I know, partly to justify their lavish life style by a kind of penance and showing they are using their wealth to advance Islam… but that’s just the same thing, really.)

    @John Robertson:

    Remember his advisers have said:

“Never let a disaster go to waste”. or
“Never let a crisis go to waste”.

It is a very short step from that to:
“Make a disaster so you can use it”…

Now apply “This behaviour is by design”… Suddenly it is clear why Billary and Obama have a trail of disasters behind them. In the disasters there is opportunity. Bring in 1 Million muslims last year. Give defacto amnesty to 11 million illegals since it’s a disaster to leave them legal or kick them out. Spend into budget hell so you can justify cutting the military in half. See how it works?

Feel free to post comments in your native language as well as the English translation. We have a fair number of folks who speak other languages here, too. While I’ve mostly learned Romance languages, I did have one class each of German and Russian. (Still struggle with the Cyrillic alphabet though… but it’s prettier ;-) Often comparison of the original with the English can be enlightening as to the original intent.

I do have to admit that given all the “dirt” thrown on Putin in the American media, this shows him in a very different light. It will be very interesting to watch. He has already spanked Obama and told him to take his toys out of the way so he can see what a real man does with an army…

If he manages to pull off a restoration of Syria, it will shift global balance of power for a generation.

He already has a new friend in France (or given the historical French involvement in Imperial Russia, perhaps an old friend returned.). Oddly, given historical fights between them, Germany will likely be fighting on the side of Russia “soon”. (Germany had a bomb threat against a stadium where Angela Merkel was to watch a football match. France has invoked an EU common defense clause – interesting in that they did not appeal to NATO, so snubbed the USA in a way…)

Net result of it all is that Putin is being seen as leading Europe; and the USA and NATO as bystanders. Just brilliant chess…

    Per Israel:

I’m not fond of Israel bashing. They get accused of so much so often that they would need to be super-human to do it all. I’m certain they are good and gifted at military deception and things like false flag operations, but if you post an attack on them, please include a link to some actual evidence. Otherwise it just looks like a smear campaign…

I’m assuming you are talking about:

I don’t see how this is ‘supporting terrorists’, but I can’t keep all the Middle East players and intrigues straight some times. Feel free to explain who is on which side. (I think we are up to about 6 ‘sides’ now… /sarc; )

UPDATE: Having read the following a couple of times and thought about it, what I think you are saying is that Israel bombed Syrian facilities, not a “Hezbola arms dump”, and so was supporting the anti-Syria side, who are ISIS and the other rebels. Therefore Israel is supporting the terrorists. Yes? Does seem to match the facts. Also fits with the suspicion I’ve had that Obama is all interested in ‘creating crisis for effect’ and set about destabilizing various “strong man” regimes in the Arab World so as to… Well, that’s the point were I lose the plot. I just don’t see how it helps anyone. Maybe time for more tea and more thinking… I have a nice Iranian Chai that I really like ;-) Don’t know how they import it… or if it still comes from there. (Checking package). Ah, it’s now a Ceylon Tea Zarrin brand. Sold by the Iranian store. Has Russian, English, Arabic, I think Iranian in Arabic script, and French on the label. чай one of the Russian words I remember ;-) very nice tea.

Syria: Israeli Jets Bomb Army Facilities Near Damascus Airport

Jerusalem tight-lipped on reports of air force attacks in Damascus area and Dimas, near Lebanon border.

    Barak Ravid and Jack Khoury
    Dec 07, 2014 7:40 PM

Almost a year ago. So a tiny bit dated, but related.

That link has an annoying ‘pop up’ so I’m quoting a block of it here:

Israel has remained tight-lipped about Syrian reports that Israeli planes attacked Syrian military targets in the Damascus area on Snday.

Official Syrian media reported that Israeli jets had bombed targets near Damascus International Airport and in the town of Dimas, north of Damascus and near the border with Lebanon.

There were no reports of casualties in the reports, but the general command of the Syrian army said in a statement that several facilities had been hit, both at the Damascus International Airport and in the area of Dimas.

According to the reports, the Israeli air force flew at least 10 sorties over the Dimas area and attacked several military targets. Residents of Damascus reported hearing loud explosions on the outskirts of the city.

Al-Mayadeen, a pan-Arab television channel that is regarded as being close to both Hezbollah and the Syrian regime, reported that Syrian anti-aircraft batteries stationed at the airport had fired two missiles at the planes during the attack.

Salim Idris, a former commander of the Free Syrian Army, speculated that the targets pf the attack may have been Hezbollah arms dumps. Western intelligence agencies are making a similar assumption, according to Arab websites.

Israeli officials have neither confirmed nor denied the reports and it is unclear how reliable they are.

“This aggression proves Israel’s direct involvement in supporting terror in Syria, along with other Arab and regional countries,” the Syrian military command said..

“The Israeli attack was designed to lift the morale of the terror groups, primarily Jabhat al-Nusra and the Islamic State, after the blows they have received from the Syrian army.”

Lebanese sources that the Israeli air force had been flying over southern Lebanon since Sunday morning. It was not specified whether the planes entered Syrian air space or fired from within Lebanese air space.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cancelled a planned live video broadcast on Sunday evening due to “events in Jerusalem.” The premier made do with a short, pre-recorded speech to the Brookings Institution’s Saban Forum, being held in Washington.

Earlier, during the weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said that Israel “is following the Middle East and what is happening very closely, with wide open eyes and ears – and a lot is happening.

“We will continue to keep our fingers on the pulse and we will deal with these threats and these challenges, which never take time off. We will deal with them with the same responsibility that we have demonstrated until now.”

  23. Larry Ledwick says:

I recently got in a “discussion” with a friend and he refused to even entertain the idea the Salafi Islam with its strict interpretation of the militant aspects of Islamic doctrine really was not a “religion of peace” and that I was a self serving asshole for wanting to turn the refugees away. (he did not quite get the concept that the issue is not the refugees themselves but that we have absolutely no way to vet them and select out the few legitimate refugees from Syria from others who are clearly just taking advantage of the situation for a wave of mass migration as “civilization Jihad”.
Since that discussion I stumbled across this quote attributed to Osama Bin Laden which pretty unambiguously states the view point of the Salafi Islamists that it is a choice of, convert, accept semi slave status as a dhimmī or die. For those not familiar with the term a dhimmī is in their view simply a prisoner of war who is tolerated because they pay a tax for the privilege of living and showing submission to the ruling Islamic group although they are bound by numerous restrictions on their freedom such as not being allowed to celebrate their religion in public, not being allowed to build or even repair their places of worship, prohibited from attempting to convert Muslims to their faith etc.

“Our talks with the infidel West and our conflict with them ultimately revolve around one issue; one that demands our total support, with power and determination, with one voice, and it is:

Does Islam, or does it not, force people by the power of the sword to submit to its authority corporeally if not spiritually?

Yes. There are only three choices in Islam: [1] either willing submission [conversion]; or [2] payment of the jizya, through physical, though not spiritual, submission to the authority of Islam; or [3] the sword, for it is not right to let him [an infidel] live. The matter is summed up for every person alive: Either submit, or live under the suzerainty of Islam, or die.”

As far as Putin is concerned, he is a Checkist which draws its name from the Cheka the Bolshevik secret police. They are die hard “Russia first” folks who want to restore the Russian empire and return Russia to a place of dignity and equality with other major powers in the world. They tend to see conspiracies everywhere and react accordingly (projection much? ) as they themselves engage in multiple layers of intrigue and manipulation to accomplish goals. Think chess master sort of thinkers who move groups and issues around like chess pieces to try to direct events in their favor. When that does not work they have no problem getting out the hammer and using blunt force to encourage the outcome they desire. This little article discusses what is going on in Russia right now and where things are likely headed.

Yes I think Obama’s lack of meaningful action is intentional, although I am not sure exactly what the final objective is. There is an old concept in counter intelligence. One time is curious, two times is suspicious, and three times is proof. In that vein, failing to act effectively three or more times to my mind pretty well tells me that the lack of action is intentional, it does not make clear if it is due to someone like Valerie Jarret pulling in the reins or is it just that he is a naive ideologue living in a fantasy world where happy thoughts and good intentions can make angry malicious people suddenly want to be nice. I suspect there is a bit of both. I don’t think he has a good grip on reality and how governments project power and defend status, and is sufficiently naive and narcissistic that he is easily manipulated, and Valerie Jarrett (and Putin) are playing him like a fiddle at a ho down. It is entirely possible given the strong Communist connections in his background and Valerie’s that the FSB has the means to manipulate him directly and he is being “handled” by someone, perhaps Valerie perhaps by someone else more carefully hidden.

Also on Russia Today is an article saying that the son of the Turkish president Erdogan owns the ships that transport ISIS terrorist oil to Turkey. And another article that dealt with Turkish arms shipments to ISIS because the were fighting the Kurds, whom the Turks generally seem to have an irrational fear of.

With Turkey and Saudi sponsoring terrorist groups, and the USA not willing to challenge Turkey or Saudi on these and other issues, we can expect this to drag on forever.

Meanwhile the socialist government in the UK are thinking of sending just 8 aging planes to assist anti terrorist ops.

Like most people I am bewildered as to why the sources of Daesh finance wasn’t cut off long ago.

China has an excess male population of about 80 million, they could put a few million ground troops in, but I guess they are too busy illegally occupying international waters.

EM, where is that article (or articles) where you did an in-depth rundown of what’s what in Islam, with considerable emphasis on its history? IIRC, most of the time when the ultimate leader was succeeded, it was by assassination. Frequently, that act was done by a female close at hand.

Personally, I think Islam is a female-run religion. They just want people to think it’s run by vicious, blood-thirsty men. That’s just the PR talking.

If I had been the First Lady (or whatever comparable title they had), and knew I could only maintain my lifestyle as long as my man stayed in power and stayed under my sway, I would probably push for making sure all the “competition” was invisible. So that would be the source of the edicts of making sure all other women are covered up. If they don’t cover up, they get tortured and even killed.

Also, if I wanted to make sure I always knew where my man was, I would decree that all men had to assemble several times a day at a special location and assume a position of vulnerability. Hence, the daily “prayers”.

I can find other similar reasons for many of the other salient practices, but I won’t go into that now.

I have two others anecdotes that fall in line with my reasoning. One is that, according to a past associate, among Native American tribes, it’s the women who do the worst torture of captured victims. The other is that, according to the Chinese mother of a friend of a high schooler I knew, it was Madame Mao who came up with the idea of putting all the intelligentsia into primitive conditions and working them to death.

So when I am reminded that Muslim females are the closest associates of both POTUS and POTUS-wannabe HRC, I can’t help but wonder who really is serving whom?

BTW, didn’t you mention that one of the problems with so-called “moderate” Muslims voicing any criticism of other Muslims was that they were liable to the death penalty? That’s what I think is going on whenever POTUS refuses to call a spade a spade. Even if his mother’s temporary husband wasn’t really his biological father, as long as the Muslims can lay claim to some kind of paternity, he’s pwned by them. As long as they consider him one of theirs, he can’t speak the truth if it could be interpreted as a dig against Islam.

  26. Socialist govt in The UK? The conservative govt here would be considered to be quite right wing, probably a little to the right of obamas socialist republic of America.

Seems unlikely the presidents son would be involved in shipping oil. Having said that the flow of oil needs to be cut and whilst we are about it the money flowing to them via banks and companies and countries also neds to be cut off.

  27. Paul, Somerset says:

There’s a good reason why France has to send its aircraft carrier to Syria: Russia’s only carrier, the 30-year-old and hopelessly unreliable Kuznetsov, is under repair yet again in Murmansk. Of course, Putin has announced grandiose plans for replacements, hoping his admirers overlook the reality that Russia lacks the facilities or know-how to build aircraft carriers.

So why not commission a replacement from the country which built the Kuznetsov? Well, as that country was Ukraine, perhaps some of his recent decisions might make that a problem.

    Strategic mastermind, my arse.

  28. J Martin says:

It is surprising that Russia has allowed its Navy to become so run down, as witnessed by their attempt to buy two naval vessels from France recently. Although that deal hit the rocks they may shortly be able to order aircraft carriers from France. Russia’s air force on the other hand seems to enjoy some of the most capable aircraft around, reputedly better than the US jets, not sure how it stacks up against the euro fighter.

  31. E.M.Smith says:

Hmmm… I thought it would be:

The “report” on the “twelvers” of the Sunni Shia divide and the history of how they were often murdered… It has much more of the assasination plot and women involved angle…

Riiiight. I forgot that one. Thanks!

@EMSmith; the problem with reporting on prophecy is that it is not a hard fact science but is a nebulous squishy thing. The Seer gets a vision and or feeling, Interprets it, speaks or writes it down as best he can. Then the listener, reader does the same.
Nostradamus wrote down, in verse, his visions of future events for one Astrological Cycle, 780years, beginning in his time. 780 Quatrains of 2 sentence, 4lines, verse. In his southern, provincial French of the late 1400s. He said that he did them in an obscure manner to reduce his exposure to the Inquisition, but in a manner that he thought moderns might grasp. And that “500years from his time his Quatrains would be properly interpreted, Not by an educated man, and it would be of great comfort to the people of that time.” Problem is, most of the translations are done by modern French speakers of the 17 and 1800s. NOT the same language that Nostradamus used. For much of the last 400years people have written their books on interpretations of Nostradamus’s Quatrains. In the early 1990s Dolores Cannon wrote a series of 3 books, “Conversations with Nostradamus” That seems to fit his prediction completely.
In the late 1980s I spent some time in study on prophecy, of particular interest, the Quatrains and the ones set on “The New City” that gave time line, latitude, and event. That: After 1999, Latitude of New York City, 2 great stones would crash and there would be a great loss of life. Remind you of anything? To point someone at a particular prophecy to make a point is difficult as they are more a pattern of impressions that fit into the flow of history. The Cannon books approach the problem from a totally different direction then that used by others to gain insight into Nostradamus Prophecies…pg
