House Democrats on Friday announced the launch of an “impeachment investigation” following former special counsel Robert Mueller’s congressional testimony on the Trump-Russia investigation.
The House Judiciary Committee is expected to go to court Friday in an effort to obtain secret grand jury material underlying Mueller’s report.“We are telling the court that what we are doing is not just part of normal oversight but part of our Article 1 authority and responsibility to consider all remedies, including the possibility of articles of impeachment,” Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said in a press conference.
The Judiciary Committee is also expected to go to court next week to try to enforce a subpoena against former White House counsel Donald McGahn, a key Mueller witness. That suit is expected to challenge the White House’s claim that former White House employees have “absolute immunity” from testifying before Congress.
“This is an impeachment investigation,” declared Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA). “We are suggesting here is the first time we are telegraphing to the court that one remedy we have is impeachment.”

Recent court filings and public statements by top Democrats point to a dramatic escalation after lawmakers debated internally for months over mounting an impeachment inquiry into the President.
As additional House Democrats continue to call for the House Judiciary Committee to launch an impeachment inquiry — which more than half the caucus now supports — Democratic sources say the issue is essentially moot since what the panel is doing is basically that: investigating whether Trump should be impeached.
The more aggressive posture could help House Democrats convince the courts to side with them in their legal battles with the Trump administration. But it still remains to be seen whether it ultimately leads to the House taking the historic step of making Trump just the third president to be impeached.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler backs an impeachment inquiry and has made clear in a series of steps and public statements that he is actively considering recommending articles of impeachment in an attempt to remove Trump from office, something the House made clear in a new lawsuit to force former White House counsel Don McGahn to testify.
“This is formal impeachment proceedings,” Nader told CNN’s Erin Burnett Thursday on “OutFront.”In the fall, the House Judiciary Committee plans to hold a set of hearings with key witnesses whose testimony would be part of the committee’s impeachment deliberations, according to multiple sources.
And after months of resisting formal impeachment proceedings, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s tone over impeachment has shifted in recent days, endorsing the House Judiciary Committee moves and making clear to her caucus that the panel is considering whether to use its constitutional power to try and remove Trump from office.
So there’s their strategy. Light their ships on fire and sail directly into the opposing fleet hoping to take out the Leader of the Fleet. “Good luck with that”. The problem with a scorched earth philosophy is that, in the end, you are left surrounded by hundreds of miles of scorched earth with no functioning infrastructure and no food. Sort of a “Damn it, you can’t beat me if I kill myself” approach.
There is nothing, NOTHING I can think of that will more effectively assure every single person even remotely satisfied with Trump AND all those who voted for him as an unknown will ALL come out and vote for Trump.
The Stupid is strong in the Dimocrat “Leadership”…
But it comes from the Color Revolution Playbook and with Soros paying for his Purple Revolution he’s going to get folks jumping when he pulls the money strings (or his “organizations” do… RICO anyone? Anyone?)

House Democrats have begun impeachment proceedings against President Trump. A key Democrat admitted as much Thursday.“This is formal impeachment proceedings,” the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), told CNN on Thursday, after weeks of dancing around whether his committee would formally consider impeaching Trump.
“We are investigating all the evidence, gathering the evidence,” Nadler added. “And we will [at the] conclusion of this — hopefully by the end of the year — vote to vote articles of impeachment to the House floor. Or we won’t. That’s a decision that we’ll have to make. But that’s exactly the process we’re in right now.”
So now we know what the “news” will be for the next 6 months…

If I was president Trump I would start proceedings into nailing them before they start on him, much evidence is already available. I like your president he does not take shit.
Could it be that at least some of the leadership of the DNC realizes it’s guilt in the 2016 election and is playing offense to blunt what they expect will come from Attorney General Barr’s investigation? Or is that giving them too much credit?

I think this is just a death rattle, they are trying to do anything to steal media coverage from Jeffrey Epstein and Pedo – gate twitter chatter includes that HRC made trips to the island as well as Bill plus lots of other big names coming out.
We will see, but this whole thing is going to get really messy and there will be some big surprises.

There has been speculation that entry to The GEB Deep State Club was conditioned on them getting tape of folks being “compromised” and Epstein was the arranger for that. IF true, he was toast as soon as someone without compromat on them started running his case.
I suspect some of the bile sprayed at Trump comes from him being invited to The Island, then NOT doing anything illegal. Staying outside the compromat fence… They even tried to make up some via the fiction of Russian Prostitutes, but it didn’t work.
They don’t know how to control someone who is “clean” and moral, so try to purge him.
Now the big question I have is: Where are the tapes?
Epstein’s estate, or other “safe” hands? CIA, or “The Hoover Vault”? (Remember that J. Edgar Hoover had folders and photos on the DC Crowd and more, so it is an FBI Tradition… along with cross dressing…)
So who sits at the top of the pyramid? Clintons? Bilderberger? Soros?

There are 40 dems in swing districts. In order to impeach, they will need those 40 votes (they are probably not part of the 118 that want it now).
If they do vote (I am in one of those districts), they will lose in 2020. So you are correct. It is mass suicide but they are bound and determined to do it.
But they have to. The alternative is the dismantling of the Obama lawless regime. Obama will not face jail time (the best irony would be for Trump to pardon him – ala Ford/Nixon), but half his cabinet will. The democrats know it. That is why they are going to do everything to get rid of Trump.
