PC Pushback Gaining Steam?

It would seem that Netflix has a comic special running that is a 100% pie in the face of “Political Correctness”. At least per this Timcast report:

He gives it a “five out of five” for spitting humor in the face of PC Natzees…

Dave Chappelle’s new special is hilarious despite what woke media tells you
Roberto Wakerell-Cruz, 3 hours ago 4 min read

When it comes to comedians, nobody else walks the line of danger and brilliance quite like Dave Chappelle. His third Netflix special after going on a nearly decade-long hiatus—the aptly named Sticks and Stones—is no exception. For just over one hour, Chappelle performs his act in a way only Chappelle can do.

But what would be the best way to measure Chappelle’s success? His crowd was buttery and primed to laugh at just about every punch Chappelle delivered, and Chappelle himself is certainly aware of this. Rather, the best way to tell if Chappelle did a good job, is to see how the culture that he lambastes reacts.

For example, writers from Vice, The Daily Beast, the National Review, and a slew of angry Twitter users will tell you that the special should just be skipped altogether. As Vice argues, “The comedian doubles down on misogyny and transphobia in both the special and the hidden bonus scene that follows.”

I think I need to find this video somewhere and watch it ;-)

It has come to the point that the only reliable indicator of things like media productions is to note who screams and rants about the program. If the correct group of lunatic PC extremists go ballistic you know it is probably worth your time to watch.

With the exception of literally 2 – 3 commentators like Tim Pool I totally ignore positive reviews because you cannot trust whether they are real or spin. On the contrary rabid hatred is a pretty honest emotion if you know where the commentator is coming from.

    Well, watched the show. I’d not rate it a 5 out of 5, but it’s a solid 4.5+ ….

The audience is clearly loving it.

  3. pinroot says:

I’ve always liked Chappelle. The first episode featured a skit of him as a blind black guy who was in the klan ( he didn’t realize he was black). I think this is the first half (language alert):

I’m glad he’s back and still politically incorrect.

@beth – That’s because your overlords have deemed you to be too fragile for something like that.

It might hurt your widdle feewings.

@Larry – Hadn’t thought about the truth being revealed by which group is doing the negative reviews, but I see the value in checking out the negative reviews, who is giving them, and ignoring the positive reviews. That’s a pro tip right there.

Nuthin’ hurts a serf’s feelings more than censorship, H.R. Anti-First-Amendment-cowardly-jackal-behavior come close. I is goin’ ter get meself a pair of silver duelling pistols (‘n learn to use them.)

  7. H.R. says:

@beth – I recommend large caliber dueling pistols with high capacity magazines and a fully automatic dueling rifle… kept purely for their historical interest, of course ;o)

Hard to come by in Oz, I know. Thankfully, US citizens have resisted all attempts to disarm them. The more talk of disarmament, the higher gun sales go; very true.

  8. beththeserf says:

Don’t think I’ll manage a fully automatic rifle, H.R. But I have a straight eye for team games. And I wanna be able to say, ‘Do ya feel lucky, punk, well do ya?’ )

  9. E.M.Smith says:

@H.R.:Some 40 plus years back, the San Francisco Chronacle (“Comical”) had a movie reviewer who I used as a 100% accurate reviewer…. IFF you inverted his reviews…

He would pan things that were great SciFi or Action Adventure shoot-em-ups, and praise introspctive emotathons of angst…

First time I learned to look for who hates something as a positive indicator.

As much as we (the general public) moan about the elimination of free speech by the left, the biggest victims are comics. So I fully understand Chappelle.

The left has never had a sense of humor, so they want to deprive everyone of any humor. But then that is what socialism is – a humorless world.

  11. Larry Ledwick says:

Oh the left has a sense of humor but it is very different from most people.

They laugh at someone they hate getting hit by a bus, but can’t see the humor in ironic or subtle humor about one of their own. They laugh at someone loosing a job because they said something that was not PC – for want of another term they like “revenge humor”

Looks at the cutting and vicious sorts of humor used by the left’s top comedy shows, then compare that to the humor of Jack Benny, Johnny Carson etc.

Their idea of humor is violent slap stick, where a conservative seeing the same thing will not laugh but go “Oooooh that hurts”

Conservatives like humor that makes you think, and often requires a knowledge of history.

  12. philjourdan says:

@Larry – Sadism is not humor. It is merely gaining pleasure out of the pain of others.
