Bongino is really on a roll laying out what’s really going on in the back rooms / behind the scenes of this whole DC Follies process. As a consequence, I’ve posted links to a few of his videos. Well, today is another one. To prevent this becoming a constant addition to other threads, this thread is where I’ll just be adding links to his videos as this whole thing unrolls.
The plot, as of today, is that Trump has called the bluff of the Dimocrats and their faux “impeachment”. The constitution says “The House Of RepresentativeS” not the “Speaker & her party”… Now a Senate intel committee packed with never Trumpers chimes in with a “me too!” rollout of more crap. Bongino has a great explainer. By 23 minutes I was having laughter tears…
Seems that the “Investigation” Trump was supposedly “demanding” at the point of accused extortion was in fact already underway in Ukraine and our intel folks already knew it (so Trump knew it). So, let me see again:
1) No threat in the phone call. No pressure.
2) No Quid Pro Quo offered.
3) Ukraine did not know we’d held up the aid AND the aid was in fact already being released.
4) Ukraine had for a couple of months already opened a new investigation.
Uh, if that’s using color of office to extort Ukraine into starting an investigation is sure is lacking every single necessary element… including that the thing “demanded” is already known to be a done deal…
Just OMG. The House Clown Show is just so to much lack of self awareness….

The dimowit leftards keep saying the House can use whatever process they please to impeach Trump. The Constitution does not lay out a process for impeachment, so to an extent they are right.
But what they conveniently leave out is due process, something specified by the Constitution. This is something that SHOULD stand in the Supreme Court.
The Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution each contain a due process clause. Due process deals with the administration of justice and thus the due process clause acts as a safeguard from arbitrary denial of life, liberty, or property by the government outside the sanction of law.[1] The Supreme Court of the United States interprets the clauses broadly, concluding that these clauses provide four protections: procedural due process (in civil and criminal proceedings), substantive due process, a prohibition against vague laws, and as the vehicle for the incorporation of the Bill of Rights.

One of the things forgotten, back in the Watergate days, was, apparently, the Hildebeest (and others) trying to deprive Nixon of his personal Constitutional rights. That, at the time, cost the Hildebeest her slot. So yeah, she learned *exactly* the lessons of Watergate. [And she wonders *why* she lost … plenty of folk remembered that, along with her horribly run campaign. “How could he have won, no one else I know voted for him. ;p”]
Speaking of the Constitution not laying out a process, the same is true of declaring war. Congress has to do it, but the words “declare war” are not strictly necessary. All that is needed is that the Congress fund it, regardless of the wording. See 2001’s Authorization of the Use of Military Forces.
Due process does not enter into it until the trial. But the 5th amendment does apply.
The only way they can get a vote of impeachment is to prevent any defense evidence from being presented (the grand jury method). That works in the DAs office, but will not play too well in Anytown USA.
Still, Impeachment is just the grand jury returning charges. The trial is where it is presented AND due process should be followed. And John Roberts presides. While the democrats can probably get 218 before next November (but not after), they will lose some democrats in the Senate once the defense plays to America. And that will be their downfall.
phil – according to the dimowits, this IS the trial! Neither Trump nor the Republicans can confront witnesses, subpoena, and are otherwise very limited. There is no due process here!! I was so happy to see Trey Gowdy get on board. That guy’s got formidable legal chops. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
@Jim2 – I know they think that. But that just demonstrates their ignorance and is the reason many democrats outside of the House (and elected office) are saying it is a lose lose proposition.
The democrats can do whatever they want until they impeach. Then they have to have real evidence AND they no longer control either the narrative or the process.
Smart folks would make sure they acid tested everything before indicting. But then no one accused the dims of that trait.

@philjourdan re impeachment: The process is the punishment.
The Regressive arm of the Uniparty (DemocRATS) doesn’t want this to be an actual impeachment. It just needs to be a cloud lingering over President Trump as we go into campaign season. The YSM is in it to do whatever is necessary to bring about the downfall of America and, oh by the way, President Trump.
Accuse! Accuse! Accuse! Muh… Russia! Muh… Stormy Daniels!… Muh… Ukraine!
The Dem base will believe anything they are told and they are told “Orange Man Bad.” People with classical liberal or conservative viewpoints or who think for themselves and see America being “Made Great Again” and are rightly PO’d don’t count.
This impeachment war is for the hearts and minds of the ignorati, which will determine the outcome and future of our Country.

I think H.R. is correct, Removal of President Trump is not in the cards. The Demos will try to maintain this drum beat of “Evil Trumps” into the election with the help of the YSM. First off, 2 folks working for Guliani have been arrested for “illegal campaign contributions” which to me says someone is trying to paint there investigation actions as an “in kind” campaign contribution. That’s not likely to work out well for the DIms. Then, there’s a segment on how the removed ambassador to the Ukraine was spying…

I’m old enough to remember when CNN reported the (bad) news, the news that holds viewers attention.
Now they are 24/7 anti-Trump, I tune in now and again hoping for a change.
They are not even a news channel anymore, neither is Fox, where do you even go to get “news” nowadays ??

@HR and EM – I agree with both of you as well. However, they are forgetting one important fact.
Trump is not an establishment Republican. The things that work with Romney or Bush do not work with him. He will go beyond defending himself and take out a lot of them in the process. Biden is the first. Warren is not going to last. Hillary will be under indictment. And half of the Obama admin will either be in court or “unindicted co-conspirators”.

Dan Bongino can be relied upon to keep up with the important breaking news. Having been a NYPD Detective, he is methodical in his research and relies on evidence.
His integrity is not in question and he is fearless. He usually gives his talking points in the beginning. That’s good because the show is long. Very easy to skip onto the next topic. He is funny nd extremely smart. Great to listen to when you are doing other stuff.
As an aside from today, he notes that Mueller and Rosenstein are close friends, advance plotters, and bad guys. Bongino worked for Rosenstein when he was a secret service agent. He has a front row seat, reliable sources, and is fully aware of the fact that America as a Republic is in great danger right NOW. People like Tim Pool are full of conjecture and wrong turns.”

He was watching the Rally too and shows the clip of Trump saying Biden was good for “kissing Obama’s ass” ;-)

Talk about your useful timing ;-) Plays a clip of Rand Paul talking with Chuck and then just rips up Chuck Todd in a great rant. Todd calls it “gaslighting” to claim Biden was strong arming Ukraine when Biden is on tape doing just that! It was that kind of stuff had me uninterested in learning Chuck Todds name…
