And The Winner Is? MCC vs AOC

Today the good people of New York will give use our first insight into how much A. Occasional Cortex has poisoned the DNC Brand.

Michell Caruso-Cabrera is running against her in the Democratic primary. MCC is a well know person to those of us who are news hogs and watched the CNBC financial news channel. She is a very sane and very reasonable Classical Democrat / moderate Republican. Essentially a “middle of the bird” person (rather like myself, which is likely why I’ve always liked her).

Michelle Caruso-Cabrera (born February 9, 1967) is a journalist running for Congress, and a Democrat who is a former Republican. A regular CNBC contributor, she was Chief International Correspondent for eight years. In late 2019, Caruso-Cabrera moved from New York City to Sunnyside, Queens. Within a year, Caruso-Cabrera filed official paperwork to challenge incumbent Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the Democratic primary for New York’s 14th congressional district, which covers portions of The Bronx and Queens.

She co-hosted Power Lunch and the Worldwide Exchange program airing from 4-6 am ET (along with Christine Tan in Asia and Ross Westgate in Europe).

Early life and education

She graduated from Wellesley College in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. In 1990, while still in college, she worked as a stringer for The New York Times, reporting for the education section.

AOC, in contrast, is a bat-shit crazy socialist woke leftist radical bar tendress.

Ocasio-Cortez is among the first female members of the Democratic Socialists of America elected to serve in Congress. She advocates a progressive platform that includes Medicare for All, a federal jobs guarantee, the Green New Deal, abolishing the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, free public college and trade school, and a 70% marginal tax rate on millionaire fortunes.
Early career

After college, Ocasio-Cortez moved back to the Bronx and took a job as a bartender and waitress to help her mother—a house cleaner and school bus driver—fight foreclosure of their home. She later launched Brook Avenue Press, a now-defunct publishing firm for books that portrayed the Bronx in a positive light. Ocasio-Cortez also worked for the nonprofit National Hispanic Institute.

During the 2016 primary, Ocasio-Cortez worked as an organizer for Bernie Sanders’s presidential campaign.

Both are Hispanic women. So with race, gender, and ethnicity off the table, this is a straight up referendum on Woke-ista Soros money vs rational center known to Wall Street.

Polls close about 9 PM Eastern, I think, so 6 PM Pacific. No idea when the news will hit as to results. No idea when we find out the results of the primary on The Squad (the radical socialist left gang) either.

This particular primary, though, is going to shape Congress going forward and entirely determine the character of the Democratic Party for the future. Do the Bernie Bros and Woke-istas tell Nancy what to do (until they can directly replace her too)? Or Does the Old Guard DNC Machine see how to primary the crap out of the insurgency?

On that hangs the nature of forces pushing Nancy “the pill” Pelosi and thus what the House will do, and through that, the likely result in House & Presidential elections in November.

While I would miss the Crazy Socialist Show of AOC, it would be nice to see some hope that the Democratic Base has not also gone all wokey crazy.

So watch the screens for the first read on what the Average NY Democrats think of the current round of AOC BSCrazy socialism SJWs, and how monument bashing and riots sits with them.

Since this is a Safe Democrat Gerrymander district, whoever wins the primary will get the seat in the House.

I’m wondering how many voters in the district are still pissed off about her nixing an Amazon distribution center in the district?

I don’t know what the turnout will be; high? low? If it’s a high turnout, I think AOC is toast.

From what I read when she won the primary against a long-timer in the seat, most Dems didn’t bother to vote in the primary because they just assumed things would be the same old same old and AOC was a flash in the pan. IIRC, turnout for the primary was around 20%.

All AOC had to do was motivate a small portion of the district to vote for her to win the primary, which is what happened. I don’t see AOC increasing that support by much in that district, particularly after the Amazon fiasco.

So IMO/WAG. if the turnout is high, the voters are saying, “No more of this nonsense. We won’t be caught napping again.”

Then again, these are Democrat voters, so who knows? We shall see.

  2. H.R. says:

We may have to wait until July to find out if AOC or MCC won.

  3. Ed Forbes says:

    Doesn’t look food for AOC.

“…Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was knocked off the Working Families Party’s ballot line Tuesday after the left-leaning party failed to collect enough signatures to make the Democratic socialist incumbent its standard bearer.

Queens Supreme Court Judge Phillip Hom ordered the Board of Elections to remove the congresswoman, who goes by her initials AOC on social media, from the WFP line after hearing a legal challenge filed by her Democratic Party primary opponent, Michelle Caruso-Cabrera.

Hom said a review of the WFP’s petition filed for AOC found that it “contained less than the required number of signatures of enrolled party members necessary for party designation.”

Caruso-Cabrera reveled in knocking the congresswoman off the WFP ballot line for the 14th congressional district seat that encompasses parts of Queens and the Bronx…”

  4. philjourdan says:

I actually hope AOC wins. That will sink the democrat party,

  5. E.M.Smith says:

Hmmmm it updated to all zeros….

So who was playing with the numbers to have AOC leading at 70.2% with zero counted?

  6. Foyle says:

all mail votes? It’s democrats so no chance of shenanigans. AOC leads on 74% with about 20k votes counted (turnouts vary between 70k and 230k)

  7. H.R. says:

    Ah, yes… mail in ballots.

It’s not who votes but who counts the votes.

  8. E.M.Smith says:

Golly, and now with most votes counted, it is almost exactly the % that I saw leak out with 0% counted. That is just damn suspicious. But I didn’t do a screen shot so no evidence.

  9. foyle says:

about 3/4 of all precincts reporting but only 29k votes. Super low turnout. AOC well in front on ~73%.

  10. gallopingcamel says:

I am with “philjourdan”. AOC is the darling of the extreme left but she does not have a single idea that can pass a sanity check.

If she wins this primary the “Green New Deal” will rise again and Nancy Pelosi will become one of the “Walking Dead”………goodbye Joe Biden’s hopes for the presidency.

  11. Foyle says:

easy win. 27k out of ~36k votes, which is probably about 6% of adults in the 14th district of NY. What an endorsement. Only the most motivated (ie fringe nutters) have bothered to vote.

  12. Foyle says:

Oops, being a non-USAin I hadn’t noticed it is a primary (hence low numbers). So really a solid win for AOC

  13. H.R. says:

@Foyle – As I guessed above, low turnout is in AOC’s favor.

    What I don’t know is
    a) The number of mail-in ballots yet to be counted. They haven’t started on counting those yet.
    b) Which candidate the Dem vote-counters want to win.

If the State and Federal Dems are OK with, or even outright supporting AOC, then she’s in.

If the Dems really want MCC in the seat, then large numbers of mail-in ballots will be magically found in the trunk of a ’62 Studebaker, all of them marked for MCC.

So far, it looks like the Dems are OK with AOC.

  14. spetzer86 says:

They don’t need to count (or “find” more) mail in ballots, so that’s not going to matter.

  15. philjourdan says:

The fix was in. Democrats never lose unless they want to.

“The fix was in. Democrats never lose unless they want to.”

Was that for a voluntary position?

  17. H.R. says:

@Another Ian – Take a knee and keep repeating Burn, Loot, Murder.

    Soon enough you’ll find… you’re in!… I think… I could be wrong.

You might want to seek guidance before trying that
