VP Debate

OK, I was not paying much attention as I was down the rabbit hole of systems programming / hacking. So here’s a somewhat late VP Debate thread.

The Debate from Right Side (via a different network official feed):

I caught about the last 1/2 hour of it (which, per O’Reilly was the best part) so I’m now going back to watch the first hour.

My impression was that Kamala was a slimy weasel willing to “Embrace The Lies”. She’s slick, though. But her voice is that of someone skilled at lying, not truth telling. Her skill is that of a prosecutor willing to tell any lie to win the case. Just sets off my BS Detector big time, and then she becomes grating. I’ll not listen to her after this debate run, just too annoying. IFF she ends up POTUS, I’ll have nothing to do with her or her speeches or policies.

So there you have it. Pence is pedantic and a bit boring, but clueful and moral. Kamala is a piece of work I’d run away from as much as possible. Their policies? Pence is pro Trump and pro America. Kamala is pro Kamala and willing to suck up to any BS that gets her some goodies. Just my opinion. If you don’t like how mine smells, smell your own.

I watched the first half. I had exactly the same reactions as you (as an Australian).
It’s a pity that neither of them seem to be aware of Tony Heller’s message about the fires from 1 and 2 millennia ago being much more serious than those of today.
    Forest Fire Burn Acreage Plummeting:-

  2. beththeserf says:

Oh imagine four years of listening to the Kamala voice. Fish wife at the grievance market!

  3. Graeme No.3 says:

I saw a piece recently about Pence being one of the ‘poorest’ in Washington circles, barely a millionaire. So either he is very stupid or he is honest. That last option alone would win him my vote except I can’t vote in the USA.

  4. pinroot says:

I watched the first questions, then had to turn it off. I saw elsewhere that someone summed up the first questions to them as:
Harris: What’s your plan for COVID?
    Pence: What’s your excuse?
So basically it was going to be two against one. I absolutely can’t stand Kamala Harris, and hope that she and Biden loose in a landslide. I just can’t imagine living in a world where she is VP, and then, in two years, after Biden gets retired, she becomes president.

  5. A C Osborn says:

It was perfection when Mike Pence interrupted her when she started lying and told her to tell the truth.
    She didn’t of course.
For the debates both her and Biden have rewritten their manifestos, but the truth is out there on video of their real beliefs and intentions.

  6. A C Osborn says:

Pinroot, it wouldn’t take 2 years, more like 2 months.

  7. E.M.Smith says:

We did have one POTUS die after giving his inauguration speech in the cold and wet… I could see a Biden admin doing the acceptance, then cashing the checks that were promised, and announcing that he was ill and was not able to continue. “Go on, take the money and run”… Moving to some non-extradition country with his kid…

  8. cdquarles says:

Is it me or is it that the “left” starts stuff then blames the “right” for responding in kind? ;p Yeah, Kamala is quite the piece of work. Same with Biden. (And you wonder why this old man, after researching the Democrats, vowed to never vote for a national D unless he knew them well.) What are Ds good at besides slavery and death? Mudslinging.

  9. stewartpid says:

Chiefio ur summation of Kamala’s lying is spot on. I said to my wife “she lies like a rug”.
But she is slick and 100% slimey lawyer!!
I’m surprised that various media flunkies think her lies were good debating but I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised at the left ever.

  10. E.M.Smith says:

One of the mantras of Communism / Socialism / Progressivism / Far Left / Color Revolution (it spans them all…) is a STATED strategy of “Accuse your opponent of what you do”.

It is a written and taught strategy.

Create some problem or chaos, then accuse your opponent of starting or at a minimum failing to stop it. Start watching for that pattern and you will notice it is all over the left.

Take Biden and Pelosi with “Let the plague in, stopping flights from China is RACIST!!!!!” then flipping to “Trump FAILED to keep the plague out!!!”

  11. philjourdan says:

I have watched outtakes, but did not watch it as an upgrade I was involved with ran very long (lesson learned for the next time we have to upgrade BigIQ).

Love the fact the left is going all misogynist to explain the debate performance.

  12. p.g.sharrow says:

Democrats have to cheat to win, they know that Republicans cheat because sometimes the Republicans win and Democrats know that the Republicans can only win by cheating. It has been that way since that upstart party won the presidential election in 1860. There is No way that could have happened without cheating by those Rich New York Bankers to buy that election. Andrew Jackson won by railing against “Those Rich New York Bankers” and the Democratic party has not changed their tune in 2 hundred years. The Party of Democracy has hated the concept of a Constitutionally limited Republic ever since it was adopted. They demand Majority rule, Any minority has no rights in the face of the demands of the Majority. Of course that only holds true if they are in the Majority because their opposition must have cheated to win majority position and deprive the Democrats of their deserved majority position.

  13. pinroot says:

Somebody redid Michelle Obama’s video where she calls the riots “mostly peaceful.” I don’t know how long UTube will leave it up.

  14. E.M.Smith says:

OMG! That’s what I was visualizing (more or less) when I watched her speech. I had the visual centers replaying memories of the riots I’d seen…

Yup. They really can’t stand the idea of a Representative Republic that defends the rights of minorities against the Mob.

Well, I sat through the whole debate again. It was even more annoying this time.

Kamala’s blatant lies stood out more starkly. Her “Gotch! Grin” was more devilish. Her voice grated more harshly. Then the moderator questions…

I noticed a pattern. The questions all were about major Left Wing Talking Points. It was phrased more politely and dressed up to look more even. BUT: Most questions were implicitly of the form “Trump did something horrible about Climate Change; discuss”. Leaving the Paris Trap? Authorizing fracking and decent energy costs? It was “Not listening to Scientists” on “Climate Change”. Or things like “What is the evidence Trump is a horrible racist and wants to kill the sick” (though phrased more indirectly).

It was nicely done. I’d not realized it on the first run through. But looking at “What is the negative space? What is missing?”: Where were the questions like “With 3 Nobel nominations, are we facing peace in the Middle East?” or “What about those Hunter Biden $Millions?” or “Is bringing the troops home and ending endless wars right?” or even “CDC Said no masks, and Pelosi said to go to China Town and hug a Chinese and all the Democrats railed against the infected China travel ban: Were they wrong, and what damage did they cause?” No, it was all slanted, subtly, the other way.

I do know one thing: Given her love of the GOTCHA! (grinning while the discussion of Chinese Wuhan Covid deaths happens) and given her whiny “But MOMMY! I did my very bestest…” voice, there’s no way she survives on the global stage up against folks like Putin, Erdogan, Xi, or even the EU Kleptocrats; and there’s no way I can stand to listen to her for 4 years…

  15. Taz says:

Do something Trump! Show us you’re not just another DC ball less wonder. Pardon Assange and Snowden NOW!

  16. cdquarles says:

That leftward slant has been there for as long as I can remember. It may have been more subtle back in the 50s/60s; but it isn’t so now.

  17. Nancy & John Hultquist says:

The knowledge of this virus thingy is now catching up. Politicians have been clueless.

The Wall Street Journal has an interesting report on when the virus entered the USA. {It is a busy graphics thing; likely needing a fast connection and good screen.} If in the print edition it won’t be as intriguing.
The on-line report is here: The Covid Storm

“Months before travel bans and lockdowns, Americans were transmitting the virus across the country.”
