Isn’t It Spring Yet? (Snow In California)

Over on IceAgeNow I was reading about deep snow in Czech Republic, and ran into this comment:
https://www.iceagenow.info/czech-republic-snow-in-mid-may-global-warming-is-a-hoax/#comment-450498

Winter Storm Warning for CALIFORNIA mountains. Snow down to 4500 feet. Haven’t read it yet.

So that got me looking at California Snow Forcasts:

https://www.j2ski.com/snow_forecast/United_States/California_snow.html

California Snow Reports
When will it snow in California?

The next notable snow forecast (for Donner Ski Ranch) is 9cm, expected on 20 May, with around 18cm forecast over the next 7 days.

How much snow is there in California?
The deepest snow in California is in Alpine Meadows which is reporting snow depths of 200cm on the upper slopes and 60cm lower down.

So I guess it isn’t quite Spring just yet. Maybe in June we will get Spring…

There’s lots of WINTER STORM advisories around. Here’s a small sample:

    “The next notable snow forecast (for Donner Ski Ranch) is 9cm, expected on 20 May, with around 18cm forecast over the next 7 days.”

    Clear proof of Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming. If CO2 were back at 300 ppm we would be getting at least 18.1cm! In fact, once I get finished altering, uh, changing, uh, CORRECTING the snowfall data from 100 years ago, I will be able to prove it

  2. philjourdan says:

    Donner Ski Ranch – that would not be in Donner pass would it? I can believe it.

  3. E.M.Smith says:

    Yup. It is on the mountain overlooking where the Donner Party spent the winter snacking on each other… You drive past Donner Lake (where Dinner Was Served) and stop up the hill a little ways.

    My kids attended a school named for one of the survivors….

    Kind of an interesting bit of local, ahem, “flavor” one gets….

  4. H.R. says:

    At the ski lodge, don’t order the “chicken” fingers. How can you be sure exactly what fingers they might be?
    😲

  5. E.M.Smith says:

    Oh, H.R., everyone knows the chicken fingers are fine. It’s the Long Pork Chops you need to avoid!

    ;-)

  6. Ossqss says:

    Wait, what am I missing :-)

  7. Ossqss says:

    I have joined a new “Woke” group. And we mean business! >>

  8. Terry Jackson says:

    That mountain storm must be an awesome low. NW AZ getting south wind steady at 20, gusting over 40.

  9. E.M.Smith says:

    @Ossqss:

    Damn You!

    Now I’m going to buy a case of Bush Light and drink it… and I don’t even LIKE it. Damn damn damn… It might even mean buying a T shirt, or 2 cases. I’m just screwed… It just HAD to be a “light” beer…

  10. E.M.Smith says:

    @Terry Jackson:

    We had gusty winds earlier today, but they seem to have abated. Calm now. But “the night is young”…

  11. Kneel says:

    @Ossqss re: reindeer names.

    Yes, Blitzen the Brown nosed reindeer – just as fast as Rudolf, but couldn’t stop as quick. :-)

  12. Ossqss says:

    @EM, once you pay the bill, you will understand. LOL

  13. Ossqss says:

    Remember who you are people….

  14. H.R. says:

    @Ossqss – You just must, MUST, get a half-dozen of those BLM T-shirts.

    I’m thinking they may become the official uniform of the Chiefio’s Blog Firearm Festivities and Dodgy Proceedings.

  15. another ian says:

    “Now I’m going to buy a case of Bush Light and drink it… and I don’t even LIKE it. Damn damn damn… It might even mean buying a T shirt, or 2 cases. I’m just screwed… It just HAD to be a “light” beer…”

    Some creativity around “lager” and a stencil?

  16. Compu Gator says:

    No need for haste, methinks: Might I suggest “Brewery Lagers Matter”?

    I’ve learned in the past year that a maternal great-great grandfather was the owner & brewmaster of a regrettably short-lived brewery in Nashville (Tenn., U.S.A.). Alas, the record found thus far is mere text. Glüchlicherweise, I can read German. So I’ve been cogitatin’ on what might be plausibly faithful graphics for t-shirts.

  17. erl happ says:

    Off topic Chiefo but I know you are interested in the stock markets. This may be of interest: https://digitalfinanceanalytics.com/blog/the-end-game-approaches/

    What do you reckon?

  18. E.M.Smith says:

    @Compu Gator:

    As you know, I’m fond of generic open source software where anyone can contribute. In that mode, might I suggest:

    Beer Litres Matter!

    @Earl Happ:

    Seems to wonder around a lot with a lot of maybes… Typical financial waffle speak IMHO.

    Home sales are dopping off from LACK of sellers. Folks not willing to move and sell during a pandemic. Here houses are about 25% higher than prior. That’s not economic collapse that’s lack of supply. Folks are advertising for sellers…

    Things are so exotic at the moment with $Trillions of Gov’t Money awash, it isn’t possible to make rational projects from prior experience; IMHO. Why I’m not trading and sitting in real estate.

  19. philjourdan says:

    Beer Liters Matter – Now that is a BLM I can get behind.

  20. cdquarles says:

    Memorial Day weekend is setting up to give us a last “cool shot” before summer. Saturday night’s forecast low was dropped from 52 to 50. Mind you “normal” is 68 to 70. They had forecast highs this week to reach mid 90s. Nope. Maybe a few minutes saw 90.

Anything to say?
