Friends Of Australia Friday: 3 September 2021

It’s once again an Australia Time Friday! It’s FRIDAY!!!!

The Tucker

The Loin Chops in iron skillet in the oven. Yes, that again. Sides were eSteamed Broccoli with butter and the little colored finger potatoes cut to bite size chunks, drenched in olive oil, and a good sprinkle of seasoning.

This time I tried garlic granules and Italian Seasoning mix. It was quite good, but I like the Greek Seasoning mix a little better. Unfortunately I’ve used up all of it!

The Wine

A bottle of the Samuel Wynn “Dice With Destiny” red blend again. I know, not much variety. But I Like it…

The News

All I’m seeing in news about Australia is that there is a lockdown and that’s that.

Anyone on the ground there able to say if the truckers really are out on strike and goods not moving?

Or can you recommend a site that has decent on the ground reporting that isn’t buggered?

Then, H/T to The True Nolan here for this gem of Australian Government Truth:

Home delivered groceries from the largest supermarket chains have taken off recently. We see increasing numbers of items on the Woolworths on-line ordering system that are marked as ‘unavailable’ and I think this may be a supply problem caused by ~7000 Toll employees being out on strike; this was going to be a 24-hour strike and we hear nothing more.
Toll are contracted to do distribution to both Coles and Woolworths stores.
The ‘Nation-wide’ truckers strike may not have happened. 3 days ago two trucks blocked a main road for a few hours!
One needs a good excuse to get on the road and I can confirm roads near us are less busy (perhaps -60%)
The media is being restricted in what it can say IMHO.
Sky News Australia is usually very vocal but seems to be limiting itself to reporting what overseas news outlets are saying about Australia ;)

Just an observation thanks to the tinpot dictators trying to become banana republic dictators during this manufactured crises.

Totalitarian governments work surreptitiously. They talk about freedom, but never practice it. But the restraints are done usually under cover of darkness.

Democracies are just the opposite. They drop all pretense of freedom, and basically say obey or die.

The end result is the same. But totalitarian governments have the messaging down better,

A “From on the ground in Oz Friday” at our ranch level

One son has “escaped” from the deep north and cattle processing has started. With aid from a friend for whom he’s fixing a tractor. Due to age I am banned from single-handedly working cattle in yards – among other things. And have an EPERB just in case. So my Friday started with trucking weaners from the southern yards to home base. Which was morning used up.

Then a supply run to local centre for needs – including food stock up as working boys need feeding and I’m the cook. The boys are off at an important occasion – the friend’s bucks party and round 2 of tractor fix..

So the finale of the outdoor day was hay bales to the weaners which finished after dark.

So Friday dinner was a can of soup washed down with Great Northern beer.
