What! A coincidence?

It’s all just a coincidence, I’m sure…

Correlation of USHCN adjustments with CO2

This post is not a joke, but is stunning.

The graph below shows the relationship between atmospheric CO2 and the magnitude of USHCN data tampering. There is almost perfect correlation between the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and how much cheating our friends at NCDC are doing with the US temperature record.

That text is from above the image in the original posting, so that “below” in the text is “above” in this re-post. Still, it’s a bit hard to accept that it’s all just a coincidence. Note the “R” value. 0.988 is about as close as you can get in any real world test.

In comments several folks make remarks about it being linear while the CO2 effect is supposed to be non-linear… but maybe the CO2 effect on adjustments is different ;-)

When the curtain is finally pulled on the modern Wizard of Oz, the public will see the ghost of Stalin himself saving frightened world leaders from CHAOS and FEAR of nuclear annihilation in late August 1945, . . .

In exchange for the opportunity to expand the boundaries of totalitarian USSR to include the rest of the globe.

  2. M Simon says:

I wonder how the faithful will be responding to this.

  3. Adrian Vance says:

This is utter nonsense and a fraud, but there have been nothing but frauds since 1965 when Charles David Keeling started his BS so he could live in Hawaii and go surfing every day.

@MSimon – YOu have but to read comments by Nick stokes to see they “explain” it all away. Of course their explanation is with smoke and mirrors, with no grounding in scientific reality. But they do explain it. The old adage – You can fool some of the people all of the time… – especially the some that want to be fooled.

I have invited him to come here and make his points. We shall see.

  7. M Simon says:

I make the point at the above link that with all the confounding variables. Wind, rain, clouds, snow, ice, terrain, etc. that there is no way the “standard” infilling method can work. And it is especially fishy that the adjustments so closely match CO2.

    But he wants to believe.

  8. Chuck L says:

As I posted at Goddard’s blog:

This has been always my problem with the adjustments. If one assumes the adjustments are valid in the first place (of which I have my doubts), once the temperatures are adjusted, even if it takes a year or two, that should be it. Instead they adjust the temperature on a nearly monthly basis, always cooling the past and warming the present. IMO, It is policy-driven fraud designed to promulgate the global warming/climate change/climate disruption/carbon pollution, or whatever new name they come up with, parable.

No doubt about it: This program was designed by Stalin himself in late Aug 1945.

    I agree.

And concluded at the end if this paper that we must “giv’em a break” since the frightened Comminists and Capitalists that tried to take control of the world in 1945 are just selfish like the rest of us.

It could be a coincidence. There are such things as spurious relationships and spurious correlation; but when it comes to NOAA’s adjustments, one really has to wonder. That’s a ‘dig here’ in large block letters.

Perhaps the; Equal Justice for Bernie Madoff, org would be in order.
Bernies numbers were also perfect, the indicated returns always bountiful.
Bernie orchestrated a very small fraud by CAGW standards yet he got sentenced to lives in prison.
    99 years?
Now the fools and bandits have destroyed and wasted trillions of dollars of public wealth, in a cause now being demonstrated as fraud from day one.
Orchestrated and protected by our bureaucrats.
The appointed and elected lords of the kleptocracy have served us well.
Standards are good, so double standards even better?
Bernie got a fitting sentence, so the same shall apply to the promoters and profiteers of Catastrophe by magic gas.
Or if the government thieves and fools walk free, we may as well turn Madoff lose.

    Whats that old saw?
    Do not steal.
    Your government hates competition.

  15. omanuel says:

    @ John Robertson

I agree, Bernie Madoff’s crimes caused no more damage to society than did those who took totalitarian control of society sixty-nine years ago (2014 – 1945 = 69 yrs) to try to save themselves and the world from nuclear annihilation.

But it is now in the best interest of society to “forgive those who deceived us for the past sixty-nine years for being human and move as quickly as possible to restore integrity to government science and to constitutional limits on governments.”

In the interest of equal justice, we might also want to forgive Bernie Madoff for copying the behavior of world leaders.

  17. philjourdan says:

    @MSimon –

Tom is confusing the 2. But his mindset is so rigid he cannot see it. That is the shock value of the graph. Not that temperature is following CO2, but that the ADJUSTMENTS are. And until he realizes that (his whole soliloquy was around temperatures), you are not going to budge him.

It does not matter when Steven Goddard starts the graph (a fallacy of his misunderstanding). The fact that it IS happening is the important part.

I would blow the jerk off in any event. His use of the D word shows he has no clue what he is talking about. If he had any real facts, he would not have to use ad hominems.

  18. omanuel says:

I pointed that out to him and he still couldn’t see it. Then when he did see it he came up with some rationale as to why it was to be expected when he finally got it.

Then I told him that because of all the confounding factors (wind, rain, snow, etc) why the infilling procedures were useless or worse. He obviously has some rationale for that (cribbed from SkS no doubt) but I haven’t bothered to look. Too tiresome.

That [yet more insults removed. -E.M.Smith] main commenter?! Certainly you are all fully aware that Al Gore and John Cook are still actively teaching activists to expose blog entries like this. Unless you really are the lunatic fringe after all, proudly so, which calling all time of day adjustment attempts fraud really is, lunacy, since that adjustment when done correctly is objectively valid as a way to adjust records closer to reality due to measurement changes that really did occur. By adding this widely accepted and widely accepted *type* of everyday scientific adjustment into claims of fraud, you defeat yourselves as effective whistleblowers towards widely accepted types of fraud such as the recent Marcott 2013 bladeless input data hockey stick, and at this late stage, not likely naively, but neurotically and on purpose. Thank goodness Tony Watts, Lubos Motl and Steve McIntyre are not such lunatics, despite your active help here with their being damagingly stereotyped as being bad men.

This is my message here tonight, in the true spirit of the ideal of Science, and I’m going to use quotes so you can only accuse historically famous people of “ranting,” rather than me, the mere messenger who read Feynman religiously at age 14, and merely want everybody else to do so now too, possibly via free online MIT courses:

“If you decide to wage a war for the total triumph of your individuality, you must begin by inexorably destroying those who have the greatest affinity with you. All alliance depersonalizes; everything that tends to the collective is your death; use the collective, therefore, as an experiment, after which strike hard, and remain alone!” – Salvador Dali (“The Secret Life of Salvador Dali” 1942)

“A gathering of scientific men or of artists, owning to the mere fact that they form an assemblage, will not deliver judgments of general subjects sensibly different from those rendered by a gathering of masons or grocers.” – Gustave le Bon (“The Crowd” 1895)

“All the sick and sickly instinctively strive after a herd organization as a means of shaking off their dull displeasure and feeling of weakness…. The strong are as naturally inclined to separate as the weak are to congregate; if the former unite together, it is only with the aim of an aggressive collective action and collective satisfaction of their will to power, and with much resistance from the individual conscience; the latter, on the contrary, enjoy precisely this coming together – their instinct is just as much satisfied by this as the instinct of the born “masters” (that is, the solitary, beast-of-pray species of man) is fundamentally irritated and disquieted by organization.” – Frederich Nietzsche (“On the Geneology of Morals” 1887)

“Our interest is not in movements, but in something much rarer, authentic Individuals. Movements have only ever existed because the majority of people follow the group in which they find security from their own cowardice. The only free person is the leader, if there really is a group, not just the little lifeless coteries so dear to the hearts of our modern intellectual milieux. The individual only remains himself in collective experiences in so far as he takes these experiences in hand, by using them to develop his personal potential. This supposes a total confidence in oneself, as well as faith in something incommensurable and undiscussible, something precise and endless; on a scale as humanly superhuman as the NADA of St John of the Cross. In the face of this, the swarm of little movements with their history-making theological-critical quarrels about art are of negligible importance.” – Michel Tapié (“Un Art Autre” 1952)

“Turn on, tune in, drop out.” – Timothy Leary (lecture title, 1967)

And now finally in FAVOR of Omanuel I quote:

“To you, bold explorers, experimenters, and whoso embarketh with cunning sails on terrible seas – To you that delights in riddles, thy love of twilight, whose soul is lured as by flutes to every labyrinth – (For ye love not with coward hand to grope your way by a thread; and where ye can divine ye scorn to deduce.) To you alone I tell this riddle that I saw – a vision of the lonliest one….” – Friedrich Nietzsche (“Thus Spake Zarathrusta” 1891)

…but science has been due to over-specialization been corrupted.

[ Interesting collection of quotes. I don’t see how it is germain to much. Mostly it is denigrating folks who form groups. Yet most of the folks here, including me, are folks who have self selected for the lonely individual life. Academia is about NOT having much / any of those things. Much more about the “who you know” and what you got published. Who thinks you have merit (have it or not). One Comment, though:

“Are you really such geeks that civil society utterly eludes you”

Well, yes, I’m heavily a “geek”. I don’t take propaganda well ( my “that isn’t truth” buzzer goes nuts…) and I have near zero tollerance for attacks on people (probably my personal history of being attacked for being a techno-geek… just relialize it is absolutely a dead end to attack the individual here. What they SAY, yes. The person? no.)

But most interesting to me is the use of the phrase “civil society”. Near as I can tell those are entirely code words from the “loony side of left” and pretty much devoid of any real denotative content. (None that I can find, anyway. I did a post on that some time back…) So as soon as someone says “civil society” my “Must Be A Progressive Loon” alarm alerts. Not a final conclusion, just a warning “Look Out! and study…” flag. Why? Well, partly since the antithesis “uncivil society” is something of a null-set and doesn’t reflect the intent(negated) of the original. Partly as it is only used in Progressive Left Socialist literature and by those who have read a lot of it. Is the antitheis military society, or perhaps it is really free society? Hard to say. But since it is a null content code words that doesn’t play well with a tidy mind; it causes flags to fly.

Now add to that the extreme form of “to the person” argument via insult and attack. It’s “flush” time.

So if your question reduced to: Are you really so fixated on what the data say, not on peronal attacks, and don’t care WHO says something, only WHAT is said, and care so much for denotative demonstrable truth that you won’t cave to peer pressure and social manipulation? Well, yes. I’m that kind of geek.

Let me make it perfectly clear: If James Hansen himself stood up and said “You know, I was wrong. The future temperatures are likely going to be fine. That homogenizing method was bogus.” I’d thank him politely and ask for a discussion of his present thinking. No grudge. No “to the person” slams. No tweeking noses over prior stupidity. Forgive and move on. Truth uber alles.

AND, if Anthony Watts made a posting that attacked the person, and did not address facts, data, and truth; he’d get a warning then put on moderation.

It doens’t matter WHO says something. It matters what TRUTH is in it. I’ve learned a lot of very useful things from folks who others felt were of no merit. I’ve also found that even folks with lots of papers, letters after their name, rank and position can often be useless bags of slime with the moral compass of a hyena.

So I don’t judge folks based on what others think of them, nor on their past. I judge each person anew, based on who they are today and what they do now. “Civil Society” be damned. (As it seems that mostly Civil Society means “progressive groups who attack folks with insult and character assaults” and has never been a useful thing for free and independent thought in my experience.) In short: I don’t think about “Civil Society” at all unless forced into it against my will, and then it is usually in a negative context.

  47. E.M.Smith says:

    @All:

I’ve added embedded commentary to some of “NikFromNYC”‘s rants. You might find it interesting.

    @John Robertson:

Yes. The “staleness” ( I think that’s a good word for it…) IMHO comes from the way things have evolved to a stalemate over lies.

The Warmers were ‘caught out’ in a pack of lies and massive data corruption / contamination. That is now well known and demonstrated. They then have proceeded to ignore that reality.

The Powers That Be did nothing to enforce morality nor legality on them. So we also know that the “management” is also corrupted (and perhaps the source of that corruption).

The weather has gone flat headed for cold. The truth of that is that Reality Is On Our Side.

At that point, the Reality is a ‘waiting game’. It will take a decade more to be indisputable, so not much can move it along.

Repeatedly showing the persistent corruption and contamination / manipulation becomes just more ‘piling on’ and ‘same old same old’; and is also ignored by “the other side”.

The Other Side continuing to rant Gloom And DOOM! in our time becomes tedious and useless. “Our side” is not listinging to it any more (snickering at most) and their side already is convinced, so at most it become fodder for some future “didn’t happen did it?” follow up… in a few years.

Basically, there is no mystery any more. We KNOW that this is a game of frauds driven via the UN and Agenda 21 types out into the world of academia and government. After that, playing “what does the peer (pee-er?) reviewed literature say?” is not very effective nor interesting; and at the same time re-stating what we already know ( it is a fraud for the money and power ) doesn’t gain any result. It all goes stale.

Also, knowing that the game is rigged and the Truth does not matter kind of puts a damper on further demonstrations of the technical truth of weather cycles and data corruption. To what end is that energy expended if The Real Game is only a political power play, as it has been demonstrated to be (think Mann and his $Millions consolation prize for being exposed and AlGore getting the gold for propaganda of a fantastic sort… )

So yes, stale. Likely to stay that way until some new major event happens… For me, I’m going to gamely play on, but it will take some doing. In particular, I have GHCN V1, V2, V3 and in theory the daily unadjusted. Need to set up the system to handle it, but I have learned SQL just so I can load it all into a database easily and then do some fun stuff fast. Such as graft V1 to V2 to V3 and ask “With ‘cool the past’ removed, isn’t this reality?”… ;-)

So maybe there’s a bit more that can be done… and a bit of interest yet to play.

I think Oscar has it right here. The world leaders thought this was all going to work. Either as a truth or as a well played fraud (depending on the individual…). Now they are confused.

Maybe I’ll open a thread about Putin and his clear vision of how power is best used ;-)

(FWIW, for about 15 years I’ve stated I think a nuclear war is coming. Just not sure which axis will blow up first as it keeps shifting. China / N. Korea proxy vs Japan / rest of S.E. Asia. Or… Iran / Shia vs Iraq / Sunni. Or… India vs Pakistan… or Muslims vs. Israel. At the moment it looks more like Iran / Israel but I think Iran is being a bit slow on the nuke front. China is already collecting all the ownership chips, so is unlikely to use a nuke unless via N. Korea proxy. And Putin is getting what he wants, so no risk there. But the whole simmering mess is still looking ready to blow as soon as a loon with a nuke has A Bright Idea… )

    @Tim Clark:

IMHO, I think the key is to defend rigorously your individuality, while respecting that of everyone else, and preserve what makes you you, while being open to useful and interesting things that makes other folks themselves. It isn’t about “victory” or “triumph”, it is about discovering that while you are chocolate, and you LIKE chocolate, sometimes adding a bit of peanut butter or coffee can be very interesting ;-)

Well what do you know? I have a start on that.

Thing is, Drug Prohibition was built on a similar tissue of lies. The lies have been similarly debunked. But Prohibition lives on.

Maybe they thought – “well if we have pulled this off, we can pull that off as well” CAGW and the Drug War are mirror images of each other.

At the street level each side is convinced of the sanctity of its motives and the perversity of the opposition.

    @ E. M. Smith

    1. I agree: “We KNOW that this is a game of frauds driven via the UN and Agenda 21 types out into the world of academia and government. . . . the game is rigged and the Truth does not matter kind of puts a damper on further demonstrations of the technical truth of weather cycles and data corruption. . . . The world leaders thought this was all going to work. Either as a truth or as a well played fraud (depending on the individual…). Now they are confused.”

    2. I look forward to your “thread about Putin and his clear vision of how power is best used.”

Putin and the Mafia State of government may offer new insight.

On the continue to plod on, to allow other less involved people to see thro the CAGW corruption.
Jo Nova has some great work up as Jennifer Marchosey(spelling?) has managed to gain media attention to the data “modification” by the Australian BOM.
This government agency has tried to justify creating a warming trend from raw data that indicated slight cooling. And it is classic bureaucratic hole digging.
But on an open forum of a major Ozzie paper.
An interesting point is that New Zealand and Australian data is the land temperature data for 1/4 of the world data base.
Both have been exposed as corrected to reveal the required trend.
AC/DC “Shot Down in Flames keeps coming to mind”.

Also a lot of the analysis was done on kenskingdom

The Australian has now run a series of articles highlighting the adjustments by the Bureau of Meteorology.

  56. omanuel says:

Tomorrow I will submit a new paper for publication that documents sixty-nine years of deceit about the source of “Solar Energy.”

If the deception was unintentional, consensus scientists will respond to nine pages of precise experimental measurements that disagree with the Standard Solar Model of Hydrogen-filled stars.

If the deception was intentional, consensus scientists will refuse to address the nine pages of precise experimental measurements that disagree with the Standard Solar Model of Hydrogen-filled stars.

  57. omanuel says:

This manuscript was submitted for publication at ~6:30 am this morning.

A self-selection process is now in operation:

    1. If the 97% consensus community consists of genuine scientists, they will openly address all of the nine pages of precise experimental measurements that disagree with the Standard Solar Model of Hydrogen-filled stars.

    2. If the 97% consensus community consists only of phony scientists, they will refuse to address any of the nine pages of precise experimental measurements that disagree with the Standard Solar Model of Hydrogen-filled stars.

the stories keep coming, and the Bureau of Meteorology is struggling for answers.

Thanks for that, my bad for messing up Marohasy.
Meant to go back and get right spelling, got sidetracked.
    The BOM just keeps digging.
They and their comrades are beginning to change from stonewalling all questioners to defending the indefensible .
    Looks good on them.
Now is just the beginning of the actual conversation about CAGW.
Busy with their own affairs, only now are taxpayers beginning to feel the chill, the depletion of their pocketbook and the questions will be asked.
Perfect timing for the bureaucrats to start making their stench obvious to those who feed them.

  60. David A says:

Re John says…”An interesting point is that New Zealand and Australian data is the land temperature data for 1/4 of the world data base.”
Do you have a link John? Certainly not world? Perhaps land data, but that would be absurd as well.

  61. Graeme No.3 says:

    David A:
there is some debate about that percentage and it seems that only the compilers of the rising charts know for sure (and it may be different for each).
What is known that Australia and NZ have the ‘best’ data in the southern hemisphere, as Southern Africa and South America are a patchy. What is of concern is that the data for Australia and NZ has been “adjusted” to show a warming trend, and so for the southern hemisphere. A ‘positive’ result in half the globe keeps the whole northern hemisphere warming trend (however achieved) intact.
What is not known is whether the “adjusted” southern data is then further “adjusted” or “homogenised” to increase the desired trend.
If you go to http://www.john-daly.com and at the bottom of the home page click station trends you will see graphs of old data from around the world. (John died in 2004). Makes for interesting browsing.

  62. omanuel says:

Climategate emerged in 2009 and the legal effort to stop debate today are the result of two 1946 FALSEHOODS disguised as consensus science [1]:

    1. Stars are filled with Hydrogen
    2. Neutrons attract other neutrons

[In fact stars make and discard Hydrogen and atomic bombs explode because neutrons repel neutrons]

The falsehoods were designed to prevent public knowledge of the source of energy that destroyed Hiroshima [2].

Why? An almost complete “black-out” of news on the CHAOS & FEAR of nuclear annihilation that followed Stalin’s capture of Japan’s atomic bomb plant at Konan, Korea in late August 1945 [3] left the public in the West unaware that Stalin:

    1. Emerged victorious from WWII, and
    2. Established the UN on 24 Oct 1945 to expand totalitarian control globally [4].

We face a formidable opponent who will be defeated because ultimately, “Truth is victorious, never untruth!”
