Nice Summary Of Pro-Health Prevention Steps

A bit slow, and long ( at 1 hour 52 minutes), but a nice summary interview with Dr. Roger Seheult (of MedCram) about things you can do to boost your immune function and increase prevention measures.

Vit-D about 4000 IU or some quality time outside in the sun, Vit-C, Zinc, hot/cold contrasting showers or baths, exercise, even “forest bathing” (that was medically tested and walking in a forest a couple of hours a week DID increase immune cell activity).

The wander through the immunity mechanisms involved, and the biochemistry somewhat. Also the history of various treatments (such as ‘artificial fevers’). Point out that Finland has as many Saunas as people, and also one of the lowest Chinese Wuhan Covid death rates. I’m also pleased to note that what I’ve always called an “artificial fever” (bundling up until you are hot and sweating) is apparently known to many cultures, and works.

Some of it is a bit dated, from January 2021, so he talks about hospitals being crowded in L.A. and such. A little bit preachy about vaccination, and doesn’t cover the potential downsides of this particular vaccination as much as I think it deserves, but he is a practicing M.D. treating patients and that will be the bias there.

In my opinion, a nice reminder of some of the lesser practiced things that improve your health and resistance to diseases. Avoiding stress is covered (including an experiment with students and final exams where they found MODERATE exercise reduced stress and illness, but no exercise and too much hard exercise made you more likely to get sick), time outdoors in the sun, a weekly walk in the trees / park. All good. In short, some amount of “Don’t worry, Be Happy!” IS IMPORTANT to health, and all the Fear Porn making people worry and fret indoors is just causing them to, literally, be “scared sick”.

Big “Do not do” – constant use of sanitizing hand gels or constant washing of hands. Man was not created in a Germ free environment and the immune system handles most bugs very well. Until you kill it by sterilizing the environment.

A reminder that selenium is at least as vital as anything else mentioned above.

Eat Your Brazil Nuts & Fish & Bacon & Eggs

I can only speak for myself, but I’ve been religiously eating one or two brazil nuts a day (never more) since reading this article, and I haven’t had the slightest hint of a cold or any other kind of ill health since then. Even the annoying herpes virus rash that hitherto broke out around my eyes for a couple of weeks every summer has remained dormant since then.

    @Paul, Somerset:

Nice Reminder! Yes, I have forgotten to keep up on Selenium. OTOH, it’s in my daily multi… but likely a bit low.

  4. The True Nolan says:

Studies done by the Japanese in the 1990s during an Ebola outbreak found that patients treated with Selenium had a near zero death rate. Looking at this paper here:
    http://orthomolecular.org/library/jom/1995/articles/1995-v10n0304-p131.shtml
I see “This could also contribute to the characteristic hemorrhaging caused by intravascular blood clotting, due to the thrombotic effect of Se deficiency.”
and also “The most compelling data pertain to Keshan disease, a classical Se-deficiency disease manifested as a non-obstructive cardiomyopathy.”

So… combine a viral infection with a selenium deficiency and you get blood clotting and cardiomyopathy. Sure sounds like the COVID clot-shot side effects.

This may be VERY important. With one or two hundred million vaccine recipients in the US (not to mention the billion plus in the rest of the world) there are going to be a LOT of people wanting some sort of treatment to at least ameliorate the after effects.

    Selenium …

I was getting it from the Brazil nuts in the (Costco) mixed nuts. The last one I purchased had very few Brazil nuts in it (an they were relatively small). I bought some at Albertsons (it is closer) a few weeks ago and it was the same … hardly any brazil nuts.

Brazil nuts are the ones most people pick around and leave in the mixed nuts container.

I am guessing that somebody else is wanting Brazil nuts as well.

  6. E.M.Smith says:

Mixed Nuts will vary the contents based on relative market prices. You might want to search out straight Brazil Nuts… I’m quite certain there’s a big rise in demand globally. Were I not already equipped with Selenium pills, I’d be buying the nuts… (And yes, one a day is quite enough).

Next time I’m in Whole Foods I think I’ll see if they have any. Figuring the “Natural Food Nuts” would not want a pill, so would be asking for them… It’s a curiosity thing…

MedCram: “innate Immunity, interferon, and COVID 19 in Children: Update 128 (August 25, 2021)

The innate immune system is strong in children and gets weaker with age. Interferon is a product of the innate immune system and it is very important in fighting Covid. Interferon levels can predict the outcome of Covid cases. But Covid shuts down interferon production, so there is only a narrow window for cells to fight Covid.

A simple to way to boost IFN is hyperthermia, otherwise known as a hot tub.
Also, do not fight a fever. Fever is your friend against Covid. Unless it is over 102°F
