That is mostly correct, but it was a little more complex than that. The peasants were taught by the government to override their common sense about agriculture. So, at random times different villages would get freakishly good harvests and because it seemed to result from Lysenko’s methods, they would report those successes to Pravda (of course they would not publish disappointing harvests). So, what was produced as an automated “cherry picking” reporting mechanism, and eventually there were hundreds of reports in the Soviet media that backed up Lysenko. Lysenko rarely published in scientific journals but rebutted his opponents that did with the massive trove of Pravda articles that showed the “practical results” of his methods. Thus, the peasants unwittingly participated in this through the Soviet media and it looked like they were on Lysenko’s side. And the real irony was that the government was buying wheat from the United States and desperately wanted to increase its harvests. (wtf?)
I just bring this up because it is similar to what is happening now with Climate Change, where every unusual weather occurrence, that validates the theory, gets reported as “proof” of the theory. And weather occurrences that don’t, don’t get reported. This is illustrative of how pernicious something like this can become, as even well meaning people get sucked in, along the lines of: “if you are trained to find something, you will find it.” And now this is happening in other branches of Western science that are fast becoming “narrative based”…
Sorry about the “nit-picking” but I just thought I would expand on your comment. Lysenkoism seems so absurd on its face, but how it was implemented and how it resulted in the starvation of millions is quite complex. Once the idea “took hold”, it became a self sustaining cyclone, that was almost impossible to get out of.

If this study stands, it looks like (as has been discussed) that the vaxx lowers initial chance of hospitalization but then wanes in effectiveness. As of August 7, the vaxxed Medicare folks (80%) were accounting for 60% of the hospitalizations. As of August 21, it was up to 71%. If it continues that trend, by now, the vaxx recipients may have worse stats than the unvaxxed PLUS (of course) they have the risks of side effects. Hopefully this study will be updated as the pertinent data continues to come in.
(In light of the various nurses saying that they have been told to NOT collect info on vaxx status of COVID cases, I wonder whether this study has correct numbers.)
Few things disgust me more, right now, that hearing reports of medical personnel (mainly nurses since paperwork is a lot of their time) being told to *not* report adverse events. I wonder why Dr Fauci, who has been in government long enough to have had power at the time, didn’t impose shut downs and “masking”; mandatory testing and quarantine, etc — during the AIDS problem. Actually, I don’t wonder that. I wonder why the media isn’t asking that.
Do you know, the molnupiravir is an “anti-viral” similar to the treatment for AIDS? Neither AIDS nor Covid is “cured” by the anti-virals, the best we see is that symptoms are reduced, life is prolonged, and contagion is reduced — not eliminated. Having a disease ENdemic in the population, as AIDS is now, seems to be an outcome the CDC is okay with.
How come I see so many news/analysis reports on vaccination rates by racial demographic groups but the COVID death rates by race are not as widely reported? For that matter, the death rate for old gay men who had been struggling with AIDS for the past 40 years? Wouldn’t it be interesting if AZT had provided AIDS sufferers COVID protections in the same way HCQ was alleged to protect malaria sufferers? Wouldn’t it be equally interesting if Covid ultimately reduces the incidence of AIDS via the “co-morbidity” process?
Once AIDS was shown to be a sexually transmitted disease among a politically protected subgroup, well, politics prevented quarantines, contact tracing, et. al. Flip side of that is that studying how AIDS worked advanced knowledge of immune system function in general as well as how many viral infections worked specifically.
The CDC has to be “okay” with endemic viruses. We all have to live that way with them. Note that tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis all are also still with us. We have to live with endemic bacteria and fungi, too. It is rare that any infectious disease is truly eliminated, and where that has happened, it has been basically by replacement of a more virulent form with one that is less virulent.
Right now, the main problem is an epidemic of fear allowing an epidemic of tyranny. Just say no; and act to stop the tyranny.

Anyone who has been around the Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming propaganda long enough is well aware that one of the favorite CAGW tactics was “curve fitting” where someone would take a dataset of supposed past temperatures (or tornadoes, or ocean levels, of mass extinctions, etc.), come up with a hopefully plausible sounding) mechanism that MIGHT have something to do with it, and to then twiddle a few parameters (out of perhaps a dozen parameters) in their equations and algorithms until their “theory” fit the past data. Result? “EUREKA! We have PROVEN that the color of men’s socks is influenced by CO2 such that high wheat will lead to the starvation of millions!”

The point? Matching a theory to already known data may be a useful way to do preliminary testing for plausibility, but the only way to know if you have a successful explanation is to check whether currently unknown data matches your theory.

Not mistakes, lies.
The Government has been analyzing CMS data. Not a shock; they have every person over 65’s medical records, in real time, as everyone over 65, statistically speaking, is on Medicare and the government pays for it. They therefore have the records.
The US Government has been analyzing this data through Project Salus.
They know that:
71% of the Covid-19 cases occurred in these fully-vaccinated people and roughly 80% of the population >65 is vaccinated. In other words they know the vaccines do not stop you from getting Covid.
Both of the mRNA vaccines lose effectiveness between 4-6 months post-injection; the failure rate doubles between 5-6 months as opposed to 3-4 months.
Age is NOT why the vaccines lose effectiveness. It is simply that they stop working.
While Moderna vaccines work slightly better than the Pfizer ones, the key word here is slightly. Both degrade materially and the difference in the 5-6 month timeframe is not statistically significant. Yes, it appears to be slightly better but not statistically so. In other words the damn things do not work to provide durable protection — period.
The nuclear lie: As of August 7th 60% of hospitalizations were among fully-vaccinated individuals. You have heard repeatedly that this is now a “disease of the unvaccinated.” That is a damned, knowing lie and they knew it all the way back to the first of August.
In the 5-6 month timeframe the hospitalization protection also is wildly ineffective; the rate per 100,000 approximately doubles between the 3-4 month and 5-6 month time periods.
Prior infection is highly protective but post six months vaccination has become much less-so. Note that “prior infection” now goes back 18 months to the first wave. Do we still need to have a conversation about “natural immunity”? No: THE US GOVERNMENT KNOWS DAMNED WELL AND HAS PROVED THAT INFECTION PROTECTS BETTER THAN THEIR FRAUDULENT JABS.
This is now all in the data folks, and the US Government knows it.”

Yes. It is indeed what Vanden Bossche was warning about. But it’s also something I’ve been warning about on here – the Hoskins Effect, which has been a known danger from repeated flu vaccinations for over four decades.
The depressing thing is that it’s made no difference to the authorities’ enthusiasm for regular flu vaccinations, nor the public’s appetite for receiving them. Quite the opposite. The worse the flu jab performs, the more eager the public is to be jabbed. The thinking seems to be that the reason for adverse vaccine performance can only be that you didn’t get enough vaccinations. In the hysterical climate which surrounds COVID, I’d be astonished if these findings caused the public to act with any more scepticism than it does against the flu vaccines.

I am reminded of all the CAGW psuedo-scientific studies and papers churned out over the last four decades. When the climatology datasets and climate models were corrected, withdrawn, altered, modified, discarded, or adjusted, were any of the papers they had supported ever removed or even updated with a notice that they were based on incorrect (sometimes fraudulent) data?

Yes, there are lots of reports of weird stuff in the vaccines. While the death count appears ludicrous on the surface, I did hear from a very credible source that excess deaths are higher this year then 2020. If so, and I think it is, it makes zero logical sense as the majority of the most vulnerable would have died in 2020, and the combination of vaccines and natural immunity should be much higher this year.
Perhaps natural immunity is less then we thought as who knows how many false positives were recorded, scaring millions perhaps, and forcing them into an unnecessary and financially costly quarantine. Also they may assume they have natural immunity to the Wuflu, when they do not. Zero people get reports at what cycle there positive result came in at.
The other possibility with all the excess deaths, which may be well over 150,000, is that much of it is adverse reactions to the vaccines, but the lack of autopsies allow them to be recorded as various “other causes” of fatalities.

Late this afternoon I heard from my sister that my oldest brother is in the hospital with Covid-some-variant-or-other. He’s on oxygen, but I don’t know what other treatment he’s receiving.
My next-oldest brother (I’m the youngest of three bros) asked me to sit with his wife. She had a bad stroke about 6 months ago and is bedridden.
He has been working from home and is her caregiver. His company has a quarterly all day meeting and there’s no excuses accepted. That was Tuesday, the 5th. My oldest brother was going to sit all day with sis-in-law, but four or 5 days before the meeting, he had to cancel because both he and his wife had tested positive for Covid. The got tested because they were sick.
So I filled in on Tuesday as all day bedside nurse, knowing only that my oldest brother was fer sure Covid positive, but figuring that he’d have a rough time – maybe – but he should be OK. He’s 72 with no comorbidities and not carrying any excess pounds and has been through all the childhood diseases and all of the previous nasty flus.
When I heard he was hospitalized, my first thought was, “Bad news, if it’s at that point. Worse news if he’s been jabbed.”
I haven’t been able to find out much, and I won’t be able to go to the hospital and make a nuisance of myself until I get some answers about his treatment, condition, and prognosis.
I did find out that he hasn’t had the jab, so there’s no vaccine vengeance and vexation involved. Since he’s on oxygen, I know it’s targeting the lungs and can only guess that’s hopefully the only weak point the bug is exploiting and the other organs are OK.
I did hear from my sis that the Doc expects him to be on oxygen for three weeks, but… is some of that three weeks to be spent at home or are they expecting him to be in the hospital all that time? I’ll probably find out tomorrow.
Three things I’m trying to bring up in this comment:
1) The issue that’s been worrisome but is not in play with my brother is that some hospitals have been refusing to treat unjabbed people. This hospital doesn’t seem to be playing that political game.
2) Today is the 8th. He cancelled doing the nurse duty on at least Sept. 27th, when middle brother asked if I could fill in. So he was sick enough to get tested at least a few days before then and then call off.
That means it was about (fudge, guess, squint) 2 weeks +/- from feeling sick to being hospitalized today. I’m sure he and his wife saw a doctor – why else a test? – but it seems the Doc wasn’t giving sound advice for treatment. Two weeks from sick to hospital! So another issue re the Doc; Hands tied? Ignorant? Following policies? I dunno.
3) His (5th? I’ve lost count) wife is about 25 years younger than my brother. I believe she’s on the upside of recovery if not completely recovered. I’ll find out tomorrow. But there’s that Covid and age thing. Over 70 and gets the whammy. Younger and not at any particular risk of death.

I hope to find out more, today. But there’s all the stupid FauXi Flu rules. I can’t get in the hospital to find out anything, but I may be able to call him if he’s not in intensive care. Just a visit and those charts hanging on the end of the bed** would tell me all I need to know, but no can do under current rules.
Also, and it’s that HIPPA thing E.M. was working on, no one is allowed to tell me anything unless I’m on his “OK to share medical information list.” I know I’m not.
Most people keep their ‘OK’ list simple; spouse, sometimes kids or just one kid to share info with the others, the Doctors they see so they can know what the others are doing.

Big server farm rooms are typically devoid of people other than someone actively working on a server install, removal, or hands-on fix (which is rare). Security sits at a desk in front of the server room and gives folks badges for entry if needed, and keep out anyone without the required badges. (Why? Because it is very noisy, very cold from the excess AC, and you don’t trust the security guy with the computers… from power buttons to keyboards to other “don’t touch” that a security guy might be interested in touching… )
So if the doors drop, no security is inside the server room to let anyone in via a fire door.
Our supercomputer server room had exactly 2 doors. One in the Operators Office. One fire exit into the 3 hour burn through fire tunnel (that also had fire alarm linked magnetic hold open self dropping doors…). The operators office also had only one other door, out into the hallway in front of the 3 hour burn through fire tunnel entrance. IF you were outside the building and the fire alarm dropped, you would be at least 3 fire doors from the computer room floor (or 4 going the other way)
All the fire doors were steel with some non-flammable core material, fairly heavy, and with heavy duty locks & bolts. Designed to keep out anyone trying to steal a few $Million worth of gear or information and resist fire for 3 hours. It would be difficult to “break in”. Best approach would be a very skilled locksmith to pick the lock if you did not have working badges and all the physical keys were inside (assuming they still had a physical key system in the doors, which many places no longer have). Other than that, it would be a power cutting tool (rotary metal cutting saw) and a couple of hours…
More than once I went out the “back door” of the server room to get a package (rear was also delivery) only to hear the door latch behind me… and realize I had to go all the way around through the fire tunnel to the operator room to the front entrance to re-open the back door. It had no handle for entrance, just a crash bar for exit.
@E.M. – The way I read things, server room aside, the employees couldn’t even get in the building. No doubt there was glass somewhere to break through.
25+ years ago, I worked at a place where we had badge entry to the building, BUT… it also had a keyed lock. This was early on enough that the mag stripe lock failed every now and then while I was working there. No big deal with the lock.

It does seem that if things get bad enough to need hospital then the only things the doctors are officially allowed to do (without risking being sued or losing their job) have a high risk of killing the patient. Even the latest miracle drug, Molnupiravir, might cure you of Covid but also probably sets up a death from cancer in a few years. Funny thing, in that for those tests (unlike for HCQ and IVM official tests) they do insist on early treatment being necessary. Pretty obvious thing to do with an antiviral – if you stop them replicating early enough then you won’t get as ill.
All I can do is wish your brothers luck.
The pattern was pretty obvious before, but what with them already pushing this new anti-viral that gums up RNA replication, it’s now bleeding obvious the Federal medical agencies will recommend only the esoteric, very expensive drugs. It is in Japanese and the study was done in Japan. It does in fact show that the spike protein ends up all over your body and with concentrations in places you do not want it concentrating such as the spleen (largest lymph node and responsible for cleaning crap out of your circulation) and reproductive glands.
I read a translation / interpretation of it (somewhere) and I don’t remember it making any claim about how long the spike protein hangs around, only where it ends up. There are graphs of where it moves over time though.
Japanese uses 4 different symbol systems in the writing of it. One is Chinese Characters with their meaning in Chinese. Another is Chinese Characters where the sound of them means something in Japanese. Another is the little single line often circular sort of thin lines (IIRC 50 or so of them as syllables of Japanese sounds). Then there’s some Roman / western letters used for actual words or as abbreviations of western things. So if you see “O.L.” in the middle of a sentence that stands for “Office Lady” who is the receptionist / secretary and maker of tea and such.
As Chinese does not have those last two, that is how you can tell Chinese from Japanese.
I was speaking some amount of Japanese between Sushi dinners and Karate class and looked into learning it. When I hit the writing systems, that ended the idea…

If you scroll down in the Japanese paper the last 1/2 or so is English. Most of the graphs have a “couple of days” length (in hours – up to 350 for some) and I only saw one that went to 9 days (measured in days at the end). Though it did still show a fair amount of persistence of “something”. (What Japanese I once had is now much reduced and I can’t tell what the two lines are in that graph).
So what the paper is showing is that in just a few days, most of the stuff ends up in other organs. Not just a tiny bit, and preferentially concentrating where you do not want it.
As to whether that is damaging or not, the paper is mute.
As to what happens after day 9, it makes no claims.
What bugs me is folks citing it claiming it is proof the spike lasts for months or continues to replicate. Near as I can tell, it makes no such claims. It just looks at where the constituent parts of the vexxine end up in the body and organs. Folks citing it as saying more than that need to pony up a good translation showing the same.

Yes, there were a couple of studies very early on during vaccine development that did show the mRNA was expressed in organs beyond the deltoid muscle. And yes, that is my objection. Natural mRNA doesn’t last forever in a cell and I haven’t seen anything about the vaccine mRNA that it doesn’t get eaten up after some number of days. Our cells wouldn’t work if various mRNA hung around for long periods of time. So, yes, I agree that anyone who says the vx mRNA is expressed beyond some small number of day has some ‘splaining to do.

(And my understanding matches yours. You get a few hours to maybe a day of mRNA transcription into spike protein fragments, then the mRNA ought to be done and gone. I have no idea how long the spike protein hangs around nor what manifests on which cell surfaces and how much, but for some people it looks like enough to cause problems. The Japanese Pfizer folks were just doing a study of where the carrier lipids and such end up in the body and found they wander around and accumulate in strange unexpected places. Most of it ought to stay in the muscles, but since it doesn’t, you get a leveraged production of spike protein wherever it does land, and that includes in blood vessels, the heart, spleen, ovaries, testis, and even the brain. IF the shot is done into a vein or artery, it’s much worse, but that is a mistake and can be prevented with a “pull before push”.)

I think it is proven that the spike protein from the clot shot can cause heart issues as we have existence proof cases of it. I would expect the Spike Protein load to be lower from the vaccination than from an infection (at least, one that gets far enough along to have strong symptoms) so I’d expect the damage from a bad case of Covid to be worse than from the shot and in more people; but that’s speculation and needs proving up. (Which isn’t going to happen as we no longer have any control group).
This is a significant part of why I’m opting for prevention rather than either sickness or vexxine. I’ll wait for a better working vaccine that has fewer problems and doesn’t replicate “wherever” but is a fixed small amount of virus toxin in a fixed place.
I’ll also load up on ivermectin before any shot as it binds to the spike protein and I think that will minimize any damage potential.
With any luck, I can find an antibody test somewhere that shows I’ve already got antibodies from running into the bug while using Ivermectin and got immunity anyway…

The “market ticker” guy must have some chip on his shoulder or something. He purposely is cherry picking the stats to spread FUD. I have no respect for that. Below is a link to the report he cherry picked. He cherry picked cases. But below that in the report is the same sort of chart for hospitalizations and deaths. He didn’t include those and I think this guy should be ignored. Take a look for yourself and don’t take anything this guy says at face value without doing your own research!

Jim2 – the “market ticker” blog is doing some cherry-picking, but over the last year and a half there has been a lot of discussion here and papers linked. EM has done a load of analysis, and CDQ has added in a lifetime of experience at the sharp end. Net result seems to me to be that the spike protein causes a lot of damage in the body, from making blood-cells form rouleaux and thus causing micro-clots and blocking capillary blood vessels to making the epithelial cells of blood vessels “sticky” rather than smooth. I’ve watched the video of celebrities and politicians being “jabbed”, and notice that I never see people try to pull the plunger back first to check whether they’ve hit a blood vessel and that thus they will deliver the vax intravenously rather than intra-muscular. It thus seems that the risk from the vaccination process itself is larger than it should be, and that the vax itself is a higher risk than is reasonable and each “booster” will raise those risks a bit higher. With the antibody titre dropping off at around 40% per month, boosters will be needed every 6-8 months in perpetuity, given that the virus looks to be now endemic rather than a pandemic. Thus it’s pretty obvious that some years down the line the summed risk from the jabs will exceed the risks of the disease for most people.
Thus though Karl may be over-egging it for now, it looks to me that he will unfortunately end up pretty close to the mark. Does getting vaccinated when you’ve had Covid and recovered destroy your immunity? The evidence isn’t in yet. However, looks like it might, because you’re telling the body to generate the wrong antibodies for the variant of virus that’s going around, and to concentrate resources on hitting the spike protein rather than the nucleoside protein that doesn’t change rapidly (and that natural immunity would otherwise recognise if it hadn’t been zapped).
Throughout the pandemic very little information has been dependable or reliable. Right back at the start, the WHO said it was not transmissible between humans – how much more wrong could they have been?
At the moment, the published data does seem to imply that there is a lower personal risk of death if you take the vax. On the other hand, other evidence (from EM amongst others such as Uttar Pradesh) says that if you hit it with IVM as soon as you recognise that you’re infected then that’s even lower risk than the vax, and with little risk of passing the virus on (because you don’t realise you’re infectious if you’ve had the vax and get infected).
Once is chance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action. Look at the number of times we’ve got bum information about this, and how the simple fixes have been demonised and have been removed from sale. Looks like enemy action to me.
SD – I just want to find the truth, as far as that is possible. People like this guy aren’t conducive to that end.
I’m not going to get a booster because I believe the vax does present risks. I’m for IVM and other safe treatments. This new drug that jacks RNA replication appears to be a potential mutagen, so I won’t be taking it either, but my opinion is based on a medical paper, not hyperbole.

From Jim2’s link. The 2021 line is tracking mostly above the 2020 line. Even ignoring the early 2020 no-covid period, 2021, largely vaxxed, tracks higher most of the time and is on the increase right now. You just can’t see any success of the vaccines in there, in my humble opinion.
rhoda – The 2021 line started just before the January peak of deaths from covid, before the vaccine had a chance to make a mark. Most of the 2021 excess deaths were booked the first three months of the year. It took months to get a significant number of people vaccinated, so the 2021 excess death chart doesn’t tell you much about the efficacy of the vaccine to prevent deaths.

A major problem here is that most, if not all, of the numbers from most, if not all, of the reporting agencies are suspect in at least one, if not more, ways. The uncertainty here is way too high to make reasonably sound judgments. Politics is the driver here, and it is likely best, overall, to be cautious. Yes, one can be too cautious. You can be too aggressive in risk taking, too. Politics is making finding a reasonably sound middle ground nigh on impossible. So much historical knowledge is being shunted aside for political purposes. It is enemy action.
Jim, if the excess deaths in the last few weeks on the chart are running higher than 2020, there is something that is not going as well as the official narrative would claim. That’s all I get from the chart, and we will see…

Why?
It presents the other side with emphasis. We’ve already got way over the top emphasis the other way with flat out Lying For Effect, so a bit of balance against that is just fine with me. I generally dig into articles enough to find their bias anyway and that lets me sort of “Tote Up” a score between the two biases.
Essentially I think of it like a court room. I expect both lawyers to only cherry pick and present their biased case for their side; but I also expect me to sort them appropriately…

(Data on the 2nd time looking sketchy but pointing at mild – so far – antibody dependent enhancement and worse outcomes). Then India: States using Ivermectin are doing GREAT. The one forbidding it and massively vaccinated having most of the cases in India.
Those are immutable information and have clear conclusions. Getting lost in the crap statistics sand traps not so much…

I don’t see a way it can NOT be a significant mutagen. It substitutes into the genetic replication process CRAP that breaks it. Viruses use OUR MACHINERY so it pretty much must get inserted into our genetic replication as well. (Even if they have some incredibly trick way of blocking that, there will be a significant number of humans with variations in the process where that will likely fail to block the breakage.)
Frankly, I’d not go near that process / stuff without a few GENERATIONS of data and evidence that it didn’t screw up 2nd or 3rd generation. (This is usually done with animal studies and I’d not want anything more distant from us than Monkeys as the definitive trial. Figure about 15 years… Or about 45 if you use Chimps.)
To me, everything from the mRNA vexxines to this “drug” are based on a flawed belief that we (i.e. they) know enough about the genetic machinery in FULL DETAIL and IN EVERYONE to not do anything in error. Hubris. That’s why we do long testing including teratogenic testing to see if we are screwing up the next generation.

Excess deaths are stubbornly high, although not necessarily covid deaths. Vaccine deaths? This source dare not suggest it. Deaths from the health care provision being totally concentrated on covid? Possibly.

I agree with this. No explanation has been offered that I have seen why this chemical would not interfere with ALL the body’s processes. How could it be targeted specifically to viruses? The fact that it was rejected earlier should be a clue.
Are hubris and humility archaic forgotten words?
A few things: 1. Dose small enough to minimize adverse effects on human nucleus/nucleolus processes. That’s going to be very small. 2. Teasing it out. General chemical processes are and have to deal with mutagenic effects that are already happening; with or without this particular chemical. 3. Binding specificity, though as mentioned, within group variation will obviously put some at risk. This is already acknowledged by recommendations to not take a medicine or a similar medicine if you have had an adverse reaction previously and/or share characteristics with others who have had adverse reactions previously to one or more of the components, which does not have to be the active ingredient, either.
About hubris and humility, it appears to some, that those words only apply to the other guy, not to them.

IMHO all you can use is as a statistic is Total Deaths vs Prior Years. Between “twice jabbed” counting as unvaccinated and motorcycle accident being Covid when that was convenient, and CVT / Portal Vein Thrombosis / auto immune crisis / heart failure post jab all being counted as non-vaccine deaths to various degrees when that is convenient instead; any claim that a particular death rate is all not Covid or Jab related is seriously lacking in support.

Strange how Uttar Pradesh and other India providences have had incredible success breaking the back of the RO for Covid and driven test positivity rates from 20 percent and higher to 0.1 and lower. And yet nobody is talking about their complete success and the simple logical way it was done; simple contact tracing and distributing Ivermectin Zinc and vitamin D to the tested positive person, their family and close associates.
Done deal, Covid broken, done, a non issue. And all achieved with very low vaccine rates.
And WHO helped distribute these medical kits! Where is the pushback. To continue vaccines in these areas is criminal. Fortunately vaccinated rates are slowly increasing and are about 20 percent. But almost zero are talking about this or using it as a model, or studying the process and testing it etc…. Congress, even conservative Congress, is completely silent. ALL SUCCESSFUL protocols are ignored. IMV anyone trusting ANY data controlled by the same evil people that are suppressing ALL good protocols and any prophylactic treatments is being naive and foolish.
Jim, one comment about the supposed initial success of the jabs. They began on the downside of a wave when more people had natural immunity and more vulnerable elderly had already died. I recommend a close reading of the “ No Tricks” study referenced, as the data indicates vaccines are useless and worse when all cause morbidity and mortality is tracked. And this despite the horrible tracking done and six week period of mislabeling Covid deaths, and adverse events ( which are generally suppressed and ignored) The downside to the wave in January was no different then prior waves. And yes, the all cause mortality is a major problem. With the most vulnerable already dead from Covid, very high vaccine rates, and increased natural immunity this should NOT be happening, and the death rate is one more nail in the coffin of vaccine failure. And it is not, in my view, hyperbole to call such failures criminal, homicidal or democidal.

Jim2 – I’m not doubting that you’re trying to find the truth in all this, and you’ve put up a fair number of papers and info here. Trouble is, I’m finding too much to distrust in the data that’s available. See Dr. Kendrick at https://drmalcolmkendrick.org/2021/09/03/i-have-not-been-silenced/ (and of course his other posts) where he specifically says “I am not sure I can find the truth. I do not know if it can be found anymore. Today I am unsure what represents a fact, and what has simply been made up. A sad and scary state of affairs.”
After all, you can’t trust the “unvaccinated” status, since that includes people who are within 2 weeks after their second vaccination. All sorts of ways to bugger the data. You can’t trust the “cases” status either, since they could be using a cycle count between 25 and 42 and it’s not published (and different for “unvaccinated” and “vaccinated”). About the only thing you can really be certain of is how many people actually died (from the undertakers records), and too many are dying. The hospital deaths number may not be as reliable….
As such, I think the report from (IIRC) March 2020 in Spain showing full recovery of people in the old-folks home using pretty standard medicines (Azithromycin, Zinc, etc.) as being important. Early treatment is critical. Also obvious from the Uttar Pradesh figures. The in-vitro work from Monash early on also showed that IVM stops replication of the virus (as do a fair number of other medicines and herbs) but with IVM we also have a long record of safety. Looks like it will be useful for some varieties of ‘flu, too.
The whole thing looks like a fustercluck. It could have been a minor hiccup if treated correctly, but instead it’s caused major economic damage and continues to cause great damage. Failures in strategy all the way, and why was everyone choosing those strategies when pretty early on the information was available?
As regards cui bono, looks to me that the CCP is the big winner (though not of course the Chinese people). Coincidentally, they’re flying jets over Taiwan and saying they’re going to reunite China, while the USA and the West are distracted and unlikely to stop it.
SD – I don’t trust the data when it comes to adverse reactions to the vaccinations, the number hospitalized or deaths vis-à-vis vaccinated or not vaccinated. That’s why I was focused on excess deaths, even though that is a courser measurement.
I like journal papers when available, but I also like boots-on-the-ground accounts from physicians and nurses concerning treatments that work. I’m pro-ivermectin and I think there are adverse reactions from the vaccine that never get reported. I won’t be taking the new anti-viral, RNA-trashing pill, either.
I don’t turn to sources that present hyperbole or un-sourced FUD. I think lies or exaggerations just cloud the water, no matter from what camp.

Soooo, I asked several in the medical community (top to bottom) this last week about their understanding of a Vaxx. In general, the opinion was that a Vaxx is verified by neutralizing a Virus and halting its transmission. By default, what we have is basically an Inoculation at best, not a Vaxx. At Best….

A week ago, I watched the MNF game as I run a Fantasy League and headed in after the game end. Probably midnight. I should add, watched it in the garage mancave. Son, went to bed and forgot to take out the trash and recycling per normal, so I stepped up and did it for him. As part of the intervention, I placed my Lenovo (black) laptop on top of the wife’s ride that has a black glass top. Did things accordingly, but neglected to retrieve the laptop and place it in it’s place. Woke up the next morning and the wife is gone, and so was my laptop on her roof. It appears to have made it to the on ramp to I75 in the construction zone one an overpass, where she said she heard banging on the roof she thought was from the merging truck traffic, but is wasn’t.
Upon the search with the big reflective vest in the area, don’t do it in a highway construction zone, nothing was found.
Back up your stuff regularly before you wish you did. It ain’t hard.

David A – sorry, I didn’t save links for that data. IIRC the CDC put out a directive that PCR tests on vaccinated people should be limited to 28 cycles. I have also seen cycle counts up to 42 used earlier in the pandemic (here in France as well as many other countries). However, the cycle counts problem has generally been kept pretty quiet despite being pretty central to the question “is this person infected and/or infectious?”. I think that CDC directive was mentioned here on this blog, as well as the upper limit used beforehand. Finding it again could take a while, though.

My very layman summary is Covid-19 spike proteins have an very strong affinity to many human proteins, thus the dozens of disease manifestations that Covid is often cause to that can, even if the initial reaction is low or non-symptomatic, possibly result in a plethora of severe diseases weeks to several years later. Unfortunately the spike protein in the vaccine can potentially manifest most all the same harms, and bypasses the initial defense mechanisms via injection.
Also the chances of a novel vaccine getting past stage 3 trials is only two percent. ( There are so many “firsts” with this vaccine that it had, in my view, a far less then 2 percent chance of success)

The article you cite doesn’t mention one small point:
It isn’t just the big 18 wheelers. It is also all the little local delivery trucks from warehouses to stores. So to the extent containers do leave the docs to a warehouse, there’s also a shortage of trucks to transport from warehouse to retailers.
Plus, you can not bring in “non-CARB Compliant” trucks from out of State. They simply are not allowed to enter AT ALL. Out of State trucks that ARE Compliant still have an administrative barrier in that they must get a CARB compliance check and sign-off PLUS keep a load of new records for CARB. A lot of out of State truckers will just say “Screw it” and not bother.
Note, too, that the CRANES on the docks as well as the Lift Trucks (fork lifts) and on dock drayage gear (from specialized trucks to mini-trains if used) ALL must be 2010 or newer engines too. How much of that gear got converted in time vs how much is in parts waiting for new engines to be installed? Are they waiting for parts from China to build this sudden surge of demand for new replacement engines? Or did someone just say “Sell that lift truck out of State and whenever demand picks up we can buy a new one”… and now they can’t as the new ones are all sold out?
It’s a (as someone here put it) FusterCluck foisted on shipping by the Dimocrats running Sacramento.

It is a logistics nightmare (to the extent they are short of engines) as the engine itself may not be the problem (being shipped). It’s the old “For want of a nail” thing.
Right Now, you can’t get Chevy Pickups with a particular engine as the Engine Management Computer needs a particular computer chip out of Taiwan or China that is not available. You can build the whole damn truck, but it can’t be sold. This semiconductor shortage has hit all sorts of vehicles globally.
Now consider the sudden addition of demand for “just the new engine, please”. If you are a truck / engine builder and have a choice of selling a NEW $200,000 truck or a $20,000 “crate engine”, which one gets that EMC Unit? Will Peterbuilt or Kenworth pay more for that engine than a guy looking at a 2009 unit rebuild / engine swap? So what happens is the guy with the Old Truck just can’t comply. Which means that as of NOW he can not register and operate his truck. He is out of business. (Which also means not a lot of money for that crate engine…)
On Craig’s List for 26,000 GVWR and a couple of Tractor Rigs I’ve seen ads saying “For Sale” at good prices with a note “must be registered out of State”. Some didn’t have that in the ad, but on calling and asking was told that. So I can say from personal exposure that there’s a lot of trucks just “off line” and NOT going to be engine upgraded. Only good for leaving the State.
Which puts us back in the New Truck market where there’s supply chain issues AND the “little guy” running older equipment just is not able to buy a new $1/4 Million new tractor rig. So no new truck shows up.
Essentially: You can NOT put a 50% deficit into the middle of the trucking market and expect it to work out in any period short of many years, if at all. Yet by banning any truck with an engine over 10 years old, when the equipment design life is 20 years+, that is exactly what California has done.

Oh, and one other minor note:
Specs change over time. I have no idea if a 20 or 30 year old Crane or dock drayage flat hauler has the same bolt patterns, engine compartment space, wiring harness, etc. to even get a compatible engine to install. It is an ASSUMPTION that there can even be an engine bought to install, at all. I’ve looked at engine retrofits of just about 5 years difference in my Mercedes and was informed by my mechanic that the wiring harness and some other bits of linkage made that a nightmare from hell. I could do it, maybe, with the application of a load of money, maybe, and a lot of custom work.
Were I an owner / operator or a dock facility looking at this, my approach would have been to take the simplest path with the lowest costs. That would be “Sell out of State during the pandemic shutdown, on the used equipment market” followed by “Buy new equipment when demand returned and cash flow supported the buy”. That is, the Law expected folks to change a lot of engines. The economics said “Cut capacity by 50% and buy new when profits support that.”
Also note: Any “Refer” units coming in from Overseas to California also must now be CARB compliant for their refrigeration. That means “new units only” in practice. Even if the unit it just going to transit to Arizona and points beyond. So expect a big shortage of refer units bringing goods into California Ports as there just are not enough new ones to support the demand. So that Frozen Fish processed in China? Forget it.
Trump is smart enough to fix the supply chain problem and would want to. I get this impression the Dimowits don’t even want to fix it – another crisis to hold over our heads. They so suck.

I was doing a little thinking on the topic of vaccine passports and the pressures that will be brought to bear if you don’t get the jab. Then there is also the pressure they can bring to bear on those who have vaccine passports. “Do what we demand or we’ll revoke your vaccine passport.”
I don’t know how many others are in my situation, but Mrs. H.R. is vaxxed. So I can be “cut off from buying or selling without the mark of the Beast.” All that means is that she will have to do all of the shopping, and if we want something from a restaurant, it will have to be takeaway and not sit-down dining.
I’m not sure what the implications are for my retirement stash, but then the GEBs and D.C. pollies have been scheming for quite a while now to get everyone’s retirement funds. I don’t think vaxx status will come into play when they make that money grab.
Travel will certainly be affected. The worst case is State border checkpoints, and as E.M. has gamed out, there just aren’t enough people to cover all the roads that cross State lines. I guess I won’t be flying anywhere in the near future.
My son and daughter-in-law are vaxxed, too. They travel in and out of country on business and figured they would need the jab at some point, even if it’s for another country and not the U.S. So the kids are another resource for me to keep getting whatever I need.
Between mixed-vaxx couples and families and the inevitable black market that will arise if vaxx passports are required for commerce, I’m not sure how many people will be completely shut out of getting food, shelter, and clothing. And with the labor shortage, I can see the un-vaxxed trading work for food or items that they need. “I need food. You can’t get anyone to clean your gutters. Let’s talk.”
In the end, I think that the vaxx passports will just piss off everyone, vaxxed and unvaxxed, and people will find workarounds for whatever PITA barriers they encounter. Exhibit A: Prohibition in the 1930s.
There will be some that make small fortunes from providing workarounds to those with no vaxxed family or friends. It’s always been that way.

I was thinking. Yeah, I know, dangerous. Early on in the pandemic, it was thought that you could not get Covid more than once. I think they did find a few exceptions, but as far as I know that statement is still true.
But we know that the vaccinated do get Covid. What does that say about the vaccine?
Someone should do challenge trials. Give subjects a known controlled dose and see how many get Covid.
Further, the goal posts of herd immunity seems to be going over the horizon ahead of us.
Some places will have 100% vaccination and still have a pandemic. What does that say?
Herd immunity may only be possible with natural immunity, not the vaccine immunity.

Like you, I do not advocate initiation of violence — but history is history, and it should be remembered. How about a tee shirt with a picture of a guillotine and a caption saying “And just like that, King Louis stopped oppressing the masses.” (Obviously a simplistic view of the French Revolution, but hey, it’s just a tee shirt.)
The subject of violence deserves a word or two. More specifically the INITIATION of violence (and why it is unacceptable) deserves a comment. This is not only in reference to political violence, but social and personal violence as well. We have all heard people say “violence never solves anything!” The problem is they have it exactly wrong. Violence does indeed solve things. Someone won’t do what you wish? Force them. Beat them up. Want a new car? Steal it, drive away. pretty girl? Dark alley, upper body strength, problem solved. And so on and so on… In fact, violence solves so many things, so quickly, so easily, that once someone begins to use it, all other solutions fade to obscurity. And in almost every case those other non-violent solutions have MUCH better long term outcomes. Violence vs non-violence is just the limiting case of immediate consequences vs long term consequences. My concern is that as our society continues its shift from one with standards based on long term factors, to a society based on quick gratification and immediate considerations we see a larger and larger shift to violence as THE solution.

Yes. We do not know in any general sand accurate sense (there are of course specific exceptions) who has had COVID, when they had it, or what the symptoms are. Not only is the PCR test not reliable, but some “cases” were officially counted WITHOUT even the PCR test. “Looks like it could be a virus. Let’s just call it COVID.”
What is a rational observer to conclude? This is a political pandemic. The traditional rules of medicine are not in effect. The numbers will say what is desired.

On the news yesterday was that Russia is having a bad time with Covid, and around 1000 people are dying each day. This seems a bit odd – surely Putin is bright enough to look at the data from other countries and realise that distributing kits (as in Uttar Pradesh) would be worth a try? The Sputnik vaccination may not be that good (and the Russian people obviously know that since they are refusing to take it in large numbers), but surely he’s not being driven by the WHO?

I’ve spent a lot more time looking into this than it deserves ( I hope…). I’ve come to the conclusion that there are only a very few things that matter to The Fall, and most of them are “happening now”.
1) Climate Change. (No, not the bogus CO2 meme one, actual rapid changes of climate caused by nature). We have a 1400-ish year cycle and a 700-ish sub-cycle. It moves the rain bands. Folks dependent on rain for crops thrive and overpopulate when times are good, then when times go bad, die off or migrate away. Best recent example? Migration Era Pessimum (though I think Wiki has renamed it to something like “Roman evil white man invasion”…)
2) Economic over-interdependence (or under-self-reliance) during times of sudden change / collapse of things on which you are dependent. (As in China right now flooding so not making things we need that we can’t get off the ships anyway…)
3) War. This often is a consequence of #1 or #2 (or #2 caused by #1). It can also cause a dependence led collapse or crop failure collapse if initiated by egotistical GEBs in the absence of a natural physical cause. See Genghis Khan, Alexander The Great, Ceasars (several), Modern Neo-con / GEB / Military Industrial Complex / Bush / Clinton perpetual wars…
4) Internal moral decay into collapse of the society. See ANY Communist Regime 30 to 50 years on. From the USSR to Mao and the Cultural Revolution ending 3000 years of culture, to Venezuela today, to Nazi Germany (yeah, I know, National Socialist, not full on Communist, but still Marxist), and Fascist Italy (also Socialist with their own nationalist bent, and the inventors of “3rd Way” Market Socialism). We see echos of this today in the Italian reputation for “indirect economics” to survive as everything from Roman Empire to Mafia and more come and go.
There’s a whole lot of little bits that are subsequent to these, but that’s the big lumps. Things like buggering the money that usually happens mid to late stage moral decay. Loss of rule of law. Etc.
But most of the time a moral and just society with local production and sound money survives indefinitely until either there is a catastrophic failure of farming from a weather shift, or some GEB runs an army over them.

coast container transportation. Turning the independent truckers from indentured slaves of the Industry into slaves of the unions/trucking industry, just makes the problem worse. The Government should be protecting the Independents from the predators rather then forcing them into the hands of another group of predators. Independents are independents for a reason. it is the first step on the road to middle class rather then being a wage slave for all their productive life. Unions and Big Business are conspiring with politicians to enslave the workers and they just don’t realize that sometimes that is counter-productive to getting the job efficiently done.

It’s not exactly a “cave”. New Hires still must be vaxxed. Existing employees will continue to work IF they have applied for a medical or religious exemption but it has not YET been granted. I.E. you still can be fired if either the Company decides you are not really claiming a valid exemption or if you just flat out say “no you can’t squirt mystery juice into my body”…
So it’s about 1/4 of a “caving”…

IIRC the percentage is about 10%. There were about 10% Nazis. There were about 10% Party Members in setting up the Soviet Union. The percent of colonists who were P.O.ed at King George was modest to start.

Recently a Friend came out to take a Nostalgia Tour. Visiting old stomping grounds and Friends In California. He also visited some folks in the Mid-West and near Texas on his way back East.

Just 2 days after leaving one couples place, they informed him they had Covid-19. A day after that, one day out from home, he starts to get symptoms. (He’s now been basically isolating in his bedroom and sleeping for a couple of days).
But here’s the kicker: ALL Of them were “Vaccinated”…
So just how is it a good thing to have taken all the risks and side effects of the vexxine and still end up sick in bed for days? Think that’s making him feel like it was just a great idea to take that path?
(So Far they have modest symptoms and no hospitalization need, so some benefit, maybe…)
But here’s the big kicker:
It is likely had he been using Ivermectin he’d not be sick at all. Were he sick, using IVM would have most likely made symptoms about the same as now AND he’d have natural durable all-varieties immunity.
Does anybody know if getting sick after taking the vexxine leaves you with natural immunity (as the capsule proteins are around) or does Original Antigenic Sin mean he’s at risk for life to “varieties”?
Now ask yourself: How many folks, over time, as this worsens, will have a big load of Buyers Remorse over their choices? Over the coercion? As they see “Folks like me” having No Problems? Or worse, as they lose family members to the 2 shots of damage a year plan?

IMHO it is much larger due to 2 things left out of that cited article:
Giving stuff away. (A sort of social barter over time with hope of future kindness in return)
DIY due to tax rates.
On #1, I’ve given away about $1000 worth of stuff this year. Just not worth my time to try to sell it, but had life left in it. IF all folks did was to stop throwing out stuff that works and give it to someone who needs it, you get a big impact. Some of the folks I gave stuff to have given me stuff or services in return on other occasions, or might in the future.
On #2: Present example is my DIY Move being more probable. As costs for hired movers rose A Lot (due to California Rules & Taxes) it became economical for me to DIY the move. A big chunk of that will be non-taxed now (my labor for one) and the biggest cost is a capital investment that’s not taxed at income rates and may be recoverable later anyway.
I just did a BUNCH of yard work and junk removal myself. Why? Simple. To get $200 worth of work done, the labor needs to charge $400 as the Government will take about 1/2. For ME to get that $400, I need to earn about $800 as the Government will take about 1/2. So, IF he’s earning about $20 / hour net (barely surviving in Silly Con Valley), he has to charge about $40 and I need to earn at about $80 / hour. (Plus expenses of commuting, office clothes, meals out…)
Guess what? I’m happy to mow lawns, pick up junk, cut down trees, etc. for $80 / hour of benefit untaxed to me.
As tax revenues cross about 20% TOTAL that process starts to limit available tax REVENUES regardless of where the RATE is set. (Laffer Curve…) At about 50% Total Tax RATE (and 18% tax revenues) the economy overall starts to falter and a whole lot more DIY comes into play.
It is my belief that the DIY kicks in first, then the “trade gifts with friends” and eventually you end up with the “grey market” and “black market” as governments try to block it more and the trade widens.
Another example is that I can make a loaf of bread for about 25 ¢ but it sells for $3 in the store now. When it was $1 to $2 a loaf I’d make some of my own mostly for the qualities of it. At $3 to the occasional $4, I make my own ’cause that’s a rip-off… IF things were tight at all, I’d not be buying any commercial bread, I’d make all of it myself; but right now I’m willing to pay up for the convenience (and because $80 / hour yard work pays better ;-) but I can easily swap at any time.
Those are probably not the major size issues in Grey & Black Markets, but they limit the Government Take also.

I agree that it is usually reported to be in that range, but it is difficult to honestly describe the US economy in comparison to other nations. Why? Because we are 1) home of the world’s global reserve currency, and 2) controlled by psychopaths running the money supply. Some unknown but large part of our economy is simply a matter of people in power creating money which moves back and forth between various big banks and funds. It “churns” the economic numbers bigger and bigger but does essentially nothing to create tangible wealth. I saw an estimate perhaps six or seven years ago produced by some Chinese economists; they estimated that perhaps as much as one third of the supposed US economy was simply a matter of major financial played swapping funds back and forth. Essentially, we are in the middle of a Zimbabwe-ification of our economy. The DOW reaches new highs? Easy to do when the dollar is being printed to infinity, in spite of worsening fundamentals of the great majority of companies.
There is a sad story of three economists shipwrecked on a desert island. After six months they still have no hut, no gardens, no fishing gear — but they have all become millionaires by selling an old hat back and forth to each other. That is the US economy in a nutshell.

Fixing the damage? Or maybe trying to drain their estate as it shepherds them along to the River Styx.
I think it would be relatively achievable to have equal or better health care for perhaps 4% of the economy if it were allowed to go to a more free market approach. Educational expenses per year (direct government and loans) is about 7%, which could also be shaved down. Net net, probably at least HALF of our economy is financial churning, excess medical, and excess education expenses. Wouldn’t it be nice to have that 50% devoted to productive use? And, as you have pointed out, of what does trickle down to us, about half of that goes back out of our hands as various taxes and fees. And that is not even counting the loss of productivity caused by over regulation and paperwork requirements. American workers, thanks to computers and innovations in technology, have hugely increased their individual productivity since 1970, but the standard of living (difficult to calculate) is approximately the same. One could argue that it has noticeably dropped since the 1970 home probably had one wage earner while today most homes have two just to keep that standard the same. All the rising profit from that increase in productivity has been regulated out of our hands and into the banks, the bureaucracy, the big corporations, and into Hunter Biden’s art sales.
I am starting to get a little suspicious that the game just MIGHT be rigged.
Since the natural infection includes proteins other than the spike, I would think at a minimum a vaccinated one would develop antibodies against those. The spike proteins? Maybe not. The spike would have to be a serotype different that that of the vaccine spike.

That’s some good insight on the locking up of the ports. I think his “solutions” are not the best. For one, it ignores the CARB rules on emissions.
I’d start the fix with “suspend California CARB rules on Diesels for 4 to 6 months”. Let all those truckers and chassis from all around the nation come in to take loads… Expand the I/O channel…
Then I’d look at the available military bases, like, oh, Edwards in the Mojave with a few zillion acres of dirt. Set up a temporary yard for empty container storage and full container handling. (No need to “stack-em high” with all that land so no need for giant cranes. Smaller container handling gear can be used. I’m also pretty sure that the naval base in San Diego has some space and container handling gear…) Charge nothing to offload and store an empty there for 60 days to 90 days, then a nominal fee, rising over time as need drops off – to get them cleared out – ie no freeloading after the problem is gone. Ditto for depot of a full container there for a month (you want to get the goods to the stores, so only 1 month free…).
IMHO, that would rapidly get the empties off of chassis, the full out of the port yard, and the ships unloaded; along with getting the full ones shipped out of State rapidly on all those loverly trucks in the other lower 47 who presently can not even ENTER the State…
Essentially, give a big chunk of FREE “swap space” for a limited while and jump up the ability to load up and haul out containers with out of State trucks.
But it will not be done.
Dimocrat Politicos of all stripes LOVE DISASTERS and HATE fixing problems. They create rules specifically to break things so that their “donors” get a big chunk of change out of it (one way or another) and they get their Vig…

So the “complaint” is that Trump Media & Technology Group is using Mastodon and not admitting it nor releasing any changes to the source code they may have made. (Truth or not TBD). I’m not familiar with what makes the Affero GPL (General Pubic Licence) different from the others, so one would need to dig into it with a lawyerly POV to figure out “merit”.
This claim ignores that the service may be proprietary even if the software is not. One, for example, could layer a whole bunch of custom HTML & Graphics on top of free software to, oh, I don’t know, make a proprietary Web Site all with underlying free software. This will get into the weeds of the Affero GPL requirements.
So a bald assertion of some “violation” but no actual specifics. Does the licence forbid customizing of logos? Does it forbid proprietary services run on top of the software? Are these folks “reaching”? MUST you release “your version” when it is still in development and not finished yet? Or can you wait until you HAVE a version to release? (I suspect this is a harassment suit in the making and a PR Attack as I’ve seen other folks not release a copy until well after final deployment).

Her first Platinum shows up at the shop, and thankfully before they disable it, they order parts. Cat says first of November for injectors. No Platinum overhaul kits and no clue when they might get them.
I knew Cummins was having trouble getting parts, but Cat had been doing good.

That article’s POV is that now parents are refusing to have their children vaccinated and now children are dying of measles. All because of a scandal about a Dengue fever vaccine in 2016 and 2017. That article says it was misinformation and that the vaccine is safe. But not so fast …
The vaccine is Dengvaxia and it contains a weakened virus. That vaccine was stopped in the Philippines when its maker “Sanofi Pasteur advised the government that the vaccine could put previously uninfected people at a somewhat higher risk of a severe case of dengue fever through antibody-dependent enhancement.”
Approximately 800,000 schoolchildren received the Dengvaxia vaccine and benefit from the protection it grants against dengue fever. However around 10% of those 800,000 had not had dengue fever before and therefore are at risk of severe infection because of the vaccine.
Most of the deaths were caused by internal bleeding in the heart, lungs and brain, which are symptoms of hemorrhagic dengue.

After multiple derailments, the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission ordered that WMATA take its newest cars out of service. Because the Kawasaki-manufactured Series 7000 cars account for about 60% of the agency’s rolling stock, the suspension is causing a reduction in train frequencies, with 30-minute headways now the norm on most lines, compared to the usual 10-12 minute frequencies.

It really isn’t that hard to make track and wheels that work. We have thousands of miles of freight traffic track with millions of miles of freight traffic over it. It has worked well from the era of steam onward. In the 1950s passenger trains were common and reliable. But now they can’t keep them on the tracks. OK…
And tell me again why a train CAR needs “software”? Engine pulls it. Push button to send electricity to open doors when stopped. Not seeing the need for a computer nor software…
I’m sure someone thought it a better idea that switched power and air brakes, somehow. But really… A computer for trivial function control is NOT in keeping with the KISS principle.
(BTW, after a couple of test drives I will *NEVER* buy one of the new cars with a “tablet” glued to the dashboard where you must run through menus to do things like turn off the radio and run the wipers… Just a horrible human interface and the amount of time you must take your eyes off the road to manipulate the thing is a Very Bad Idea. )
EMS – couldn’t agree more. Old tech is genius in its simplicity compared to the junk being produced nowadays. Also, the modern junk typically puts us at risk for tracking and hacking. Such a deal I have for you!
@E.M. – My new truck with all that whiz-bang stuff on the screen is backed up by knobs and buttons. They’ve set it up as a “your choice.”
I use the knobs and buttons because I find the screens to be a big distraction, too. You have to go to the screen you want and select your options when using the screen, so that’s at least two layers and sometimes three. Knobs? Just turn them up or down or push a button.
There are a few things you need to do from the screen, like select C or F for temperature display and kph or mph for the speed display. Oh, the one I liked is where you can turn off the little horn honk when you use the remote to lock the car. IIRC, you can choose first press of ‘lock’, after second press of ‘lock’, or never honk.
That’s one of the things for which there’s no knob or button. There are a few other things, but they are similarly trivial so you set it and forget it until you sell it. Oh yeah… you can select the language for the display. But the default is English, so if that ever crapped out, it wouldn’t matter to me. If it got stuck on Spanish. That would be an opportunity to practice my H.S. Spanish 😁

Here’s another one. Some makers cannot resist the temptation to make the display “pretty”. Except they make it ugly, busy, and reduce the information content. Seems counterproductive to me. Flash.
A week or two ago I received an email from the local Toyota dealership. They WANT TO BUY MY CAR (it was in big letters).
Then yesterday they phoned me. They said it was to make sure everyone knew they worked on all makes of cars, not just Toyota.
In fact, I bought my Honda from that Toyota dealership.
Anyway, I did call them back. They said that cars like my 13 year old van with more than 235K miles on it are going for a nice premium nowadays. I said, “I like my car. I don’t what I’d drive if I sold it.”
Then they talked about leasing a car. I had told them I (regretfully) spent 4 figures on service on my Honda at the Honda dealership last winter/spring. I had to borrow most of the money. :-(
But 3 out of the 4 seals they touched weren’t done right, and I had to have others finally fix them right. Grrrrrrr… I won’t be finished paying for those repairs until next spring. The car itself has nearly a year left on the loan. I’m not convinced the things I was charged for really were necessary, or even were really done. Just saying… Grrrrrr…
So I thought I’d put the question out to this august group. If you have an opinion and/or experience about leasing cars, I’d like to hear what you have to say.
P.S. The main reasons I went to the Honda dealership for the work were that (1) there were several official recalls to be done, and (2) my usual independent shop wouldn’t drive me anywhere or let me in their office due to CV. Grrrrrr…..
Oh, and regarding touch screens in vehicles…I’m really tired of the touch screen way of controlling things. In fact, when my non-touch-screen-controlled 80GB Zune finally got to where it was even a pain to deal with while sitting in its dock (and controlling it via its remote), I got a NOS one off eBay. It’s a dandy.
I had tried a couple models of iPods, but lost track of the Nano and gave the larger one to my offspring, who was delighted to receive it. I don’t know if it’s still in use, though.
(I believe manufacturers like to produce devices without hardware controls and jacks because it costs them less.)
At least with the Zunes I’ve had, I can control them by touch if I’m using them in the car. That counts for a lot for me. It also counts for a lot that I have never filled up a Zune with 80GB of storage!
Did I mention that, of the two phones I have on my copper-line phone, my favorite is the vintage Trimline? It’s so nice to be able to just grab and talk. It’s better for holding on my shoulder so I can type with both hands, too.

I’ve never leased a car, but that may be because I had an entire class in “Buy vs Lease Economics” (linear programming) and the only time lease makes sense for a person is when they don’t have the capital to buy and must pay high interest rates, but the lease interest rate is the corporations rate and so lower. Basically it lets you leverage their credit rate and moves you to a lower monthly payment.
However…
At the end of the lease you can find yourself with a big bubble payment based on several Gotcha terms in the contract. Excess miles. Condition not great. Bubble Payment built in (i.e. blue book lower than contracted so you make up the difference). Sometimes there is a mandatory maintenance provision so you are locked into Dealer Maintenance at their rates.
FWIW, I’ve generally never had Dealers do any repairs. Just too many horror stories and they are always trying to avoid doing recall or warrantee maintenance so their techs are well trained at not doing the work; while independents need you to be happy or you talk dirt about them and do not come back…
I just pay cash for what I can afford and don’t care if it isn’t the newest at Low Monthly Payment with all sorts of hidden hooks on maintenance and end of lease buy out…

The Wisconsin Election Commission (WEC) violated state law in a statewide nursing home voting scam. The WEC did not follow the law.
The Wisconsin Election Commission took advantage of impaired seniors. The Racine Sheriffs believe this crime occurred in all 72 counties.
The Racine County Sheriff’s Department believes the WEC committed a Class I Felony and numerous misdemeanors by abusing impaired seniors to get their votes.
