0.00154 of USA Cranky In D.C.

If you watched the YSM / MSM / LSM this weekend, you were berated for hours on end about the “Massive” march of “Millions of Women Against Trump”. Then it slowly dropped to 1/2 Million. Then the occasional reference to “hundreds of thousands nation wide”. Today the claim is “A Million World Wide!!”.

OK, let’s give them the 1/2 Million in D.C. number and even put that 1 million globally into the USA. So what is that, really?

http://www.census.gov/popclock/

Puts the US Population at:

U.S. Population

324.321.460

At least as I type this. The clock rises steadily. So what is 500,000 / 324,321,460? About 0.001541 as a decimal fraction. Or 0.15% as a percentage. Or even 5/3243 that reduces to roughly 1/650 as an approximation.

So those headlines really ought to have said:

“With millions of funding from Soros Organizations, only 0.0015 of US Population can be motivated to march in D.C.” and for the million globally:

“About 0.3% of US Population Globally is Cranky or Funded Enough to March”.

And they wonder why we don’t give a damn about the Lame Stream Media any more… I’ve seen better propaganda operations in High School Gossip.

Clue Time:

Dear Media: Should you think ( I know it is hard for you, but do try) for just a few moments, you might discover that there is a massive global information flow available to EVERYONE, called the Internet. Then there is this thing called “math”. Think back to when you were flunking it in High School. Yeah, that stuff. Now in the 7 BILLION people on this planet there are a large number, Billions (that’s really really big) who know how to do math and have a computer or phone connected to the Internet. That’s a BILLION (again, really really big) “fact checkers” looking at the spin-doctored pap you put out and call “news”. Do you really think you can fool all of them? Really?

h/t to Larry for his pointer to a specific list of Soros funding for such organizations and marchers in a comment here:

More on Soros connections to the Woman’s March

https://pjmedia.com/trending/2017/01/22/soros-has-links-to-56-partners-of-the-womens-march-on-washington/

So, see Dear Media, here’s the deal: We don’t trust you any more. You were trusted in the ’50s and a little even into the ’60s. By the ’70s we were doubting you due to the Viet Nam war you were selling us, and folks we knew coming home from it with a different report. By the ’80s and ’90s you had turned into “infotainment” and had about as much trust as a “Reality TV Show” about who was voted off the island or who was sleeping with whom on the News Stand Rags.

Now we have folks with iPhones streaming live video as the events happen and other folks with live mics inside the “secret” planning meetings. In short: We know far more than you do, and we see the bias and spin “real time” when you go on air.

We can ‘attend’ the inauguration live, without standing in the rain (or review it in replay):

http://rsbn.tv/watch-the-inauguration-of-donald-j-trump-as-45th-potus-live-stream/

And that makes your pathetic bleating about “crowd size” just lame. And yellow journalism. Or ought I say urinalism?

So when WE The People were in attendance (and without your yammering at us to tell us what you want us to think – thanks CSPAN!) and heard Trump give a rousing and uplifting speech, when later your “news” comes on to call it all sorts of nasty, well, “yellow urinalism” is splashing all over you…

But Wait, there’s More!

In a world with a million recording eyes at every significant event, who get there before you and leave after you, who are behind the doors closed to you, and who leave in the bits you edit out: Spin is an exercise is self destruction.

Once “faith” and “trust” are lost, they never fully return (if they return at all). It can take generations for a new crop of people to start to trust you again. I know I will never accept anything you say without checking it myself against other sources; preferably from someone who recorded it live on the ground inside the event and published that unedited.

One last example? Trump at the C.I.A.

The YSM urinalism was 4-walling this as “Oh, The HORRORS! Trump blasphemes the brave CIA by discussing a war with journalists in front of the wall of C.I.A. lost in action stars.” with that “Oh the humanity” tone of ‘how could he insult them like that’…

Well I just watched his speech on CSPAN. Uplifting. Praising the C.I.A. Pledging them better support and less waste of their lives and work. He was greeted with rousing applause and the folks there clearly appreciated him. In fact, they applauded his line about ‘running war with the press’… ( I know you saw it when you were editing it out of the film… think about it…)

So now I sit here with two narratives to compare. One, a small sound bite edited for bias and spin to toss mud on the POTUS and muck rake. The other a clear and uplifting speech with the audience of C.I.A. agents loving it, where Trump praises them and promises them his support (and suggested building them a better meeting room – to strong applause…) Which one will I believe? Let’s just say your reputation, to me, is now:

“Striving For Irrelevance since 1970!” and reaching your goal…

  1. Over here, both the BBC and Euronews covered the Trump talk to the CIA and it was obvious that the audience was behind him with what he said. The BBC then brought up the problems over the leaks of secret reports of the Presidential briefings (probably a felony) and Trump’s tweets about the CIA at the time. It strikes me that the CIA are most likely behind Trump, but that the political appointees in charge of them probably aren’t, so the CIA rank-and-file knew who Trump’s target was. I’d thought Euronews was fairly sanitary, since I hadn’t seen a lot of bias before, but with Trump they are putting the knife in where they can.

This time, for the first time, I did actually watch the inauguration. The speech after was a re-affirmation that Trump would do as he had promised, and it seemed a historic speech to me since the ex-Presidents he was lambasting for not protecting the USA were all in the audience.

The future doesn’t look as rosy for Europe, but I think the States will do well for a while. It will take more than 4 or 8 years to put it right, but people will notice the improvements and thus maybe continue along the path Trump sets. I suspect the YSM can’t understand someone who ignores the PC words and says what he feels at the time, which may or may not change once more data is in and negotiations have begun. They are after all used to having to interpret lies. These days, though, we are connected to people all over the world who can and do give instant eyewitness reports. Lies aren’t going to stand up too well in this internet age.

On a related subject, did you notice that China are shutting down VPNs there? A friend of mine was over there and had great difficulty getting through to his normal sites until he was out of China. I may need to start thinking about local and ad-hoc networking here in France at some point.

    Yup.
Gossip and slander meet instant fact checking.
For those with access the truth can get its boots on as fast as lies travel.
The narrators can not seem to grasp that trust in their narrative has left the viewer, our lying eyes have seen too many contrasts. That and their lies became too narrow, appealing only to Progressive sensibilities.
Was just watching Trump’s Press Secretary, that is one scary smart guy, just slapping the lame gotcha questions right back at the idiots.
I was impressed, a fine example of how truth and common sense can be used as communication tools.
Nice to hear an honest “I do not know” instead of a blatant lie.Or set of lies ..Talking point..
And the zinger of “I don’t see how that matters” when being hounded over how many Trump staff were present and located where, during his address of the CIA staffers..

I guess the Presstitutes still hold everyone else to their own(Democrats) standards, or lack there of.
I doubt the current media people can adjust to modern contempt and cynicism toward their “story telling”(Their words). As selling news and points of view require an understanding of your audience.

Up here the Trump Derangement Syndrome is widespread on the canadian media, I do not think they are capable of of any objective POV, as they irrelevantly rage at Trump and his supporters, our idiot Prime Minister and his cabinet just announced they are rushing off to a 3 day “retreat” to figure out how to “deal” with a President Trump.
But these same asshats assure us they were prepared for this possibility…..both the Liberal(Progressive) Party and the Media..
You cannot make this kind of stupid up.
I actually wonder if Canada will survive the Reign of Shadow Supreme Ruler, Gerald Butts and his circus.
Very possible Western Canada will reject the eastern demands to fund their insanity.

    Is that a valid fear?
What proportion of voters are so pro-life that they would prevent someone with a different outlook from having an abortion?

  7. Larry Ledwick says:

That is one of the mischaracterizations that keep popping up because of shoddy reporting and wilful ignorance. The primary debate is only whether or not Federal tax funds should be spent to support abortions. A secondary issue is if late term abortions should be legal (ie is it legal to abort an infant that would survive birth at that same state of development with modern medical care.

Then you get into more subtle distinctions such as if you block late term abortions where do you draw the line. Fetal heart beat (very early in gestation) capacity to feel pain, capable to survive with modern medical care etc. With the exception of a few religious fundamentalists no one has seriously proposed abolishing all abortions, only control over federal funds and what window in the gestation period should they be allowed in.

Why is it that people find it useful to spend a good deal of money (their’s or someone’s) to go to a march such as this? Number of people? Unknown. Cost per each? Unknown. Likewise, total cost.
“Carbon footprint”? Massive. Not of interest, either. Opportunity cost? Good grief, what a waste.
Could they not accomplished as much (I don’t know that they accomplished anything.) by sending all the money to a single medical need? For example, fund dementia research and help for those families dealing with this?

Anyway, a WSJ editorial writer talked to folks about the march. The title to her article is “Women March for Everything Under the Progressive Sun.” If you have a million messages, you don’t have a message.

Dear Media: Should you think ( I know it is hard for you, but do try) for just a few moments, you might discover that there is a massive global information flow available to EVERYONE, called the Internet.

What is funny, is this is a monster of their own creation. They created the “you report” genre so they could get free pictures without paying professional news photographers and videographers.

As they tried to down size to compete with the web and lost revenue for advertising, they fired almost all their photographers and videographers, then depended on vanity pictures from viewers/subscribers to fill the hole.

If you have pictures of the warehouse fire please send them to xyz news front desk and we will put them on air.

Well in the process of skimming free pictures from people who had no clue what the commercial value of their images was, they created a news gathering service 1000x larger than all their resources combined.

Major news happens and you have if you are lucky, one or two professional camera operators and 10 -30 citizen reporters covering the same event. 24 hours later you can piece together an almost uninterrupted record of the event from all the short clips and images taken by witnesses.

  11. Crashex says:

The small crowd pic that was widely distributed was a deliberately biased view that doubled as the media’s hattip to the DisruptJ20 crowd that their juvenile blockade strategy was effective in slowing the crowds heading to the mall to watch. I’ve seen claims of at least half the check points were blocked for some time. So, the crowd got there a bit late for the 12:00 show, but most found a spot by the time Trump had his speech. The gigapixel view of his speech clearly shows the mall packed fuller between the pond and the Washington memorial than the biased view from the monument taken earlier. Why no pic during the speech from the same spot? Doesn’t fit the narrative.

I don’t doubt that Obama had a few more people on the mall than Trump did. I’d expect the home field advantage alone had more government employees and various urbanites excited to see Obama in 2009. And it doesn’t matter in any practical manner, but that’s politics, focus on show and style and perception over substance. It’s just another data point to note that the media is a political beast, not a fact based analysis of substance.

This is the response by President Trump and Spicer.

Press Secretary Sean Spicer Delivery First White House Full Press Briefing (Video)…

….For decades the White House has deferred to newswires and major TV networks, all of whom are represented in the first row of the White House briefing room, for the first several questions at the daily briefing. However, press secretary Sean Spicer called on very different group of reporters.

He first called on the New York Post. Then, the Christian Broadcasting Network. That was followed by Univision and Fox Business. Spicer then took a question from Urban Radio Network, and then finally the Associated Press, which up until now has usually gotten the first question.

The BBC here in the UK made a big mistake last, which probably was not picked up by very many.
On the midnight show NewsDay where they have the roundup of the world news they actually showed Donald’s speech and of course the Mall full of people.
That is after showing all day the “Contrasting” photos used by the media.
Now you must realise that the media did not actually directly lie, they were probaby real photos at the times they said.
What they did do was lie by omission of not showing how many people there by the time of the speech, which would not suit their agenda at all.
It was a well orchestrated attack on Trump, exactly as Spicer stated.

His feelings don’t matter. What matters is the plain meaning of the law and a plain reading of the facts. Oh yes, he was a deputy DA for the Southern District of Alabama, where he made an honorable name for himself. Racist? Not Jeff Sessions. That was true of some of the folk he worked with, though.

  17. Jason Calley says:

Hey Crashex! “I don’t doubt that Obama had a few more people on the mall than Trump did. ”

Yes, same here. Obama, especially at his first inauguration, had a huge crowd. Trump had a really huge crowd too, but probably not quite as huge as Obamas. The difference, of course, is that when Obama won, most of the conservatives said, “OK, he won, let’s work together and hope this turns out good.” Consequently, Obama had a goodly number of Republicans and other conservatives show up for his ceremony. With Trump, the libs are still pouting and refused to join in.

  18. pouncer says:

The difference, of course, is that when Obama won, most of the conservatives said, “OK, he won, let’s work together and hope this turns out good.”

Respectfully disagree. When the TEA party marched on the mall, they carried away their signs and litter and re-cyclable beverage bottles. When the Soros teams march, they leave it all behind. (For the deplorables to pick up, later.)

Fortunately there is an artist picking through the litter for history’s sake. (And leaving 99% of it for the deplorables to pick up later. )

Despite her senior security role, she has made her disdain for Trump and his incoming administration clear to her Facebook followers, who included current and former Secret Service agents and other people who were employees at the time of the posts. O’Grady’s posts triggered at least one complaint to the office that oversees investigations into Secret Service misbehavior, two knowledgeable sources told the Washington Examiner.
In one Facebook post O’Grady wrote at 11:07 p.m. on a Sunday in October, she endorsed Hillary Clinton and said she would endure “jail time” rather than “taking a bullet” for what she regarded as a “disaster” for America.

First off, they get to spend Soro’s money and get a payday, what’s not to like?

Second, the purpose is to create “street theatre” so it can then be filmed by complicit Major Media in order to “create the story” for the nightly “news”. The purpose being to “frame the story” of the day, thus create a national perception.

The problem they face is that at every layer of that process, it’s not 1960 anymore.

    1) Most of us now know it is street theater, not real.
    2) Soros has been “outed” as the Troll Behind The Curtain.

HILLARY CLINTON THROWING OBJECTS AT STAFF WHILE SCREAMING OBSCENITIES IN ELECTION NIGHT EPIC MELTDOWN

…While Hillary Clinton claims she will be the champion of the little people if elected, the truth is that behind the scenes she is so nasty and abusive toward her own Secret Service detail and treats them with such contempt that being assigned to Hillary’s detail is considered a form of punishment within the Security Service.

According to Secret Service agents interviewed for my book The First Family Detail, Abedin can be just as rude and nasty as Hillary…

‘When it’s convenient for them, they’ll utilize the service for whatever favor they need, but otherwise, they look down upon the agents, kind of like servants.’

‘There’s not an agent in the service who wants to be in Hillary’s detail,’ a current agent says. ‘If agents get the nod to go to her detail, that’s considered a form of punishment among the agents. She’s hard to work around, she’s known to snap at agents and yell at agents and dress them down to their faces, and they just have to be humble and say, ‘Yes ma’am,’ and walk away.’

The agent adds, ‘Agents don’t deserve that. They’re there to do a job, they’re there to protect her, they’ll lay their life down for hers, and there’s absolutely no respect for that. And that’s why agents do not want to go to her detail.’

Agents say Hillary’s nastiness and contempt for them and disdain for law enforcement and the military in general continued, both when she was secretary of state and now that she is protected as a former first lady, earning her the distinction of being considered the Secret Service’s most detested protectee.

That last one is one I asked during a computer room build (one of several) in the Sun Newark complex… the Head Electrical Contractor came in, looked at them, looked at my copy of the blueprints, turned a couple of shades and ordered his guys to immediately halt installing those sockets and assured me he would “be back on schedule by end of tomorrow”… then went off to bark at someone or other about a “rush order” for NEMA 20s ;-)

Mr. Tillis said he was aware that conservative critics are likely to label any effort to allow some illegal immigrants to remain in the U.S. as “amnesty,” while liberal groups are likely to push for a more direct path to citizenship.

Mr. Tillis said different groups among the 11 million illegal immigrants should be eligible for different lengths of protected status and subject to different terms for applying for citizenship, behind those already going through the process legally…..”

Too me it is regurgitation of the same rat feces we were handed with the 2006 Secure Fence Act and Amnesty except it has decayed for a decade and now really stinks to high heaven.

“….among the 11 million illegal immigrants…..” and that 11 million number is as old and as stinky as the 2006 Amnesty. It is more like 40 to 60 million but no wants to alarm American citizens about the size of the invading forces. 2015: 30 Million Illegal Immigrants in US, Says Mexico’s Former Ambassador and that is before they poured over the border to vote in the US elections.

We already have 1,135,749 New Legal Immigrants per year (Five year average)
    ……

I have already blasted the phones off the wall.

Much to be said for hands on management when they know when to get out of the way and let the workers do their jobs but also let them know someone is watching the details, and will hold the appropriate people responsible for doing their due diligence.

Best part is they know that he has enough construction background that when he asks them why it took so long to pour the footing for that section of the wall, he knows exactly how long it should have taken for a competent contractor.

That is the thing that is going to really panic folks is his history of on or under budget and on time completion will totally screw efforts to drag out cost plus contracts (which I doubt he will even consider). He will probably make them bid cost per mile and hold them to their bids.

  35. Larry Ledwick says:

I will just leave this here.

Chief, I have a problem: I promised not to read or respond to anything Gail Combs posted on your website, for reasons that need not trouble you, but here she responds to a link I sent you about the recent demonstrations in Washington, an accurate link, I might add. Her response, for whatever reason, is an attack on the integrity of George Soros. I am not sure why she chose to attack Soros in response to my posting. But her attack is so one-sided and distorted that I think some sort of response is required. First, in regard to Gail’s’ charge that Soros was a Nazi, he is guilty as charged. He was also a hunted Jew, and sixteen years old at the time. Does Gail mention that? NO! And so, Gail , J’accuse. Your post is a monumental distortion, and, I accuse, you knew it was. Your post was not an honest way of carrying on a civilized conversation.

  37. Gail Combs says:

It was not that Soros was a Nazi, it was that he ENJOYED being a NAZI.

George Soros: (Helping Nazis) “Was The Happiest Time of my Life” – YouTube

The fact he got screwed up in the head during his formative years does not matter. What matters is that he is NOW funding the DESTRUCTION of other countries and ENJOYS it.

  38. E.M.Smith says:

    @Serioso:

    Yea, you have a problem.

Not sure what it has to do with me, you are the one that has tweaked the tigre tail…

Just the two of you try to keep the collateral damage down and the food fight projectiles on target…

    @Gail & Serioso:

Do the two of you want a posting “just for you” where you can “exchange views” without the clutter of other topics?

(The only text I’d put in the top post would be something like: “Gail & Serioso discuss Soros and sundry other things”.)

  40. E.M.Smith says:

Serioso, I went ahead and put up a posting spot for you to make your response.

Gail, I hope you don’t mind my putting the specific Soros exchange in a distinct posting. I suspect it may be long and this one is already getting long.

    @All:

Feel free to add your own comments on that posting, per Soros, but do try not to “gang up” on Serioso. He is a minority viewpoint here and I would like him to feel free to present his case without a shout-down. Given the history of “Nationalism Run Amok” in the world, there is a rational case to be made that it has significant downside risks; and that is a core bit of the Soros Doctrin.

(Personally, I think it is just an Evil Bastard problem and that the E.B.s of the world will drive most any system into evil – look how many countries the USA has bombed in the last few decades… and that Socialism makes it worse as it concentrates power more so one Really Evil E.B. (REEB?) can do far more damage, but that is just my POV.)

So at this point I’d like to “fork” the thread. Discussions of public riot / demonstation / anti-trump-brigades in this thread; discussion of Soros and his funding / organizing here:

The debate really has nothing to do with actual numbers. It has to do with the fact that some democrats boycotted the inauguration and want to make everyone think they are in the mainstream, not the extremists.

  42. Serioso says:

Chief, I’m sorry to say I’m not interested in carrying on a debate with Gail. I said what I wanted to say about her distortions, and I’ll leave it at that. Y’all will note that in her replies the distortions continue (e.g., she leaves out Soros’ age at the time he was a Nazi). Debating Gail would be a complete waste of my time. Sorry — but thanks for the invitation!

Another unsettling connection to the Woman’s March that makes you wonder who is really in charge of this “movement” or is it just a bunch of angry folks looking for an excuse to act out.

    @Serioso

(e.g., she leaves out Soros’ age at the time he was a Nazi).

That is not a distortion. She did not claim he was a Nazi today. Very clearly, anyone with a third grade math could extrapolate his age. Not mentioning something that is readily available is not a distortion.

You just do not like the fact that what she said was factual, if unflattering. Perhaps if you learned what a fact is, and what a distortion is, your life would go much easier.
