2 Jun: National Review: The Papadopoulos Case Needs a Closer Look
By Andrew C. McCarthy

https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/06/george-papadopoulos-case-needs-closer-look/

Points to that National Review article where we find that Papadopoulos (where he pled “guilty”) has him admitting that his testimony was “false” in that he said his contacts started before joining the Trump campaign, yet he had actually started them prior to the official announcement he had joined. That is, HE knew he was getting the gig but it had not been announced yet. So is that “before” or “after”? On THAT hangs Muellers “charge”.

Instead, after the big 13-page wind-up, Papadopoulos ends up pleading guilty to a minor false-statements charge — one that is convoluted and, in the scheme of things, trivial. In essence, Papadopoulos is said to have lied about the timing and scope of his contact with the Maltese academic Joseph Mifsud. Mueller, Rhee & Co. allege that Papadopoulos falsely claimed that the contacts started before he joined the Trump campaign. It turns out that they started on March 14, 2016; this was some time after he “learned he would be a foreign policy advisor for the campaign” (page 3, paragraph 4) but a week before the campaign’s March 21 announcement that he was a campaign “policy advisor” (page 4, paragraph 6).

BUT, what caught my eye was this bit, apparently NOT of interest to Mueller:

While much that has gone on in the Mueller investigation is curious, I have assumed the candor of the special counsel’s portrayal of the Papadopoulos case: The young man was approached by an agent of Russia, who eventually informed him (on April 26, 2016) that the Kremlin had “dirt” on the Democratic party’s nominee, Hillary Clinton, in the form of “thousands” of “emails of Clinton” (pages 3–7). To my mind, then, the only questions involved (a) the nature of Mifsud’s relationship to the Putin regime and (b) whether the emails in question were the hacked DNC emails (which Democrats have suggested) or the thousands of emails Clinton deleted from her homebrew server (which seemed to me more likely).

So… Want a copy of Hillary’s emails from her insecure server? Just ask the Russians…

Think that might have compromised her, just a little?

Think her angst about getting a “Russian Reset” might have been “prompted” by some kompromat?

Think maybe all the claims that nobody had really hacked her home brew amateur operation are false?

Just ask the Russians.

No wonder the Democrats are so hot to vilify the Russians

What any of this had to do with Trump is still opaque…

Is it just me, or are there so many layers to this whole thing that it is impossible to keep up.
The lawyers must be loving every second (or do they charge by the minute), of it.

    Isn’t that “by the minutiae”?

“What we are now witnessing is something far beyond Prava and Baghdad Bob. What we now see is an even more severe distortion of media; an alternate reality created as if the Stasi and Tokyo Rose joined forces to take control of U.S. broadcasts.”

    For the CNN fans

“Last month CNN Atlanta headquarters was raided by FCC to abscond data in their investigation that CNN has violated press guidelines with the intent to deceive the American public.”

The Australian part (Downer drinking with Popadopoulous (Sp?) ) is a mystery to me. I always thought he was a real conservative, and he comes from a conservative family, but when I look at your namesake’s website, I discover not only his $25M, but a bit more besides. http://www.michaelsmithnews.com/2018/02/recent-australian-government-data-direct-clinton-foundation-taxpayer-donations-total-130m.html
Sorry, I’ve forgotten the correct html for links.

Take a gander at this: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1002981958509584385.html. If true, someone’s been doing a lot of footwork and has been using their head for something other than a hat rack.

“Me too” and weaponized sexual misconduct accusations on Full Measure this morning. Very insightful. From the article:

It may also open the possibility that accusations can be weaponized to smear a target for hidden motives. FitzGibbon began to suspect he was the target of a smear right after it was announced he wouldn’t be charged… yet he was attacked in a national press release.

Fitzgibbon: And that press release was a letter signed by 72 national organizations pledging to never hire me or work with me again.

Sharyl: What did you think of when you saw that?

Fitzgibbon: It was one of the first times that I realized that something else is at play.

He’d sold his house, was split from his wife and children, including infant twins and was too discredited to find work. FitzGibbon now thinks powerful people may have come after him because of his PR work for enemies of the mainstream Democratic party and the state…including WikiLeaks. In 2016, WikiLeaks published embarrassing insider emails of Hillary Clinton officials and the Democratic National Committee, and WikiLeaks was accused of working with Russia and being pro-Trump. There’s little doubt there are powerful efforts to smear WikiLeaks and its supporters. Government contractors circulated this dossier in 2010, a wide-ranging strategy to combat “The WikiLeaks Threat,” to “sabotage or discredit” WikiLeaks supporters using “social media exploitation” and “disinformation.”

Fitzgibbon: It shows the photos and the names of the individuals that were supportive of WikiLeaks or worked with WikiLeaks

Sharyl: And the PR documents specifically discussed going after these people.

Fitzgibbon: Ways to discredit to target to smear them.

Several targets were FitzGibbons’ clients. Two were discredited by sex claims alleged in the media but never prosecuted just like FitzGibbon. WikiLeaks’ Assange and a key associate Jacob Appelbaum. …

    @cdquarles:

That “threadreader” link is really something. 250+ specific items WITH associated documentation. I’ve read down to about #60 then skipped to the end to see just how much more there was. I’ll need to finish it on a desktop machine as the volume of images is causing the Mac to swap to SD card a lot and bog down.

    That said:

Well, just in what I’ve read there’s a whole lot of stuff to digest.

    1) Just how incestuous the media and Intel Agencies (globally) are.
    2) That there’s a whole lot of “coordination” going on between the UK, EU, and USA intel TLAs.
    3) None of that coordination is good for the citizens of the respective countries, but it’s great for the globalists.
    4) The Great Game (UK vs Russia conflict) is alive and well and being played out in the USA political theatre.
    5) The DNC is even more crooked than I’d thought. The Podesta emails in particular are enlightening. I’m going to make a posting from one of them. (Saved image from that page).
    6) We The People just barely managed to stop the manipulation of our election BY THE UK, EU, DNC, Spy /Media Complex (SMC) & Related.
    7) Trump needs to vet all his body guards personally and NOT accept any from the TLAs.
    8) This is NOT going to change or go away even with 8 years of Trump. Ivanaka needs to be on deck for 2024.
    9) This whole thing needs MASSIVE sunshine put on it.
    10) Then there’s that whole behind the scenes NGO – Soro’s – Others crap to layer on… “We The People” are up against hundreds of $Billions of influence and power at the highest levels. Right now it’s all hanging on one guy. Somebody needs a better plan, better organization, and more active strategy to attack and take down that opposition. We’ve shown up to a gun fight where the other guy’s gun is a howitzer and we brought a picnic basket and some bumper stickers & hats…

And that’s only 1/5 of the way through…

Yep. I’d skimmed about half of that thread when I thought it needed more eyes perusing it. I thought the denizens here would find it interesting.

NB, Manafort and Gates had some links to the Podestas, who did take some heat yet are not in the ‘news’ today. That is one of those “things not said”, yet it is *very* important. Keep your eye on the pea … but there’s so much obfuscation going on now, it’s tiring.

Today if anyone offered me dirt on either the US Democrats or the Clinton political machine — stipulating there is some significant difference — I’d suspect the source was from Pakistan, via Imran Awan, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and the Democratic Caucus of the US House of Representatives.

I see no particular reason to assume the government of Pakistan is less capable of shenanigans than Russia. Or, for that matter, Israel, Germany, China, Mexico, or Guatemala.

I agree it is going to take more than 8 years of Trump. But Ivanka is not the answer. We need another outsider, but I just do not see one. I am afraid the cancer is just being held at bay. And there is no long term cure.
